Where did i mention Watson? His selfishness goes without saying, Clarke on the other hand just bat 3 for the rest of the series and see what happens. Nothing to lose and we cant go any worse.

My mistake mate, I just presumed that you meant Watson.

Haddin has spent an entire career batting aggressively. He almost got us over the line in the first test playing exactly that way. To suggest he suddenly digs in and tries to just survive when he's only 2 tail end wickets to bat with shows a total lack of understanding of the game. He could have gone down the Steve Waugh school of selfishness and waited for the bowlers to get out and boost his average, but he backed himself to get us runs.

Lehmann has a lot to sort out.

Opening spots are far from settled. I think Rogers will be ok for a year or two but Watson has issues. Number 3 has been a disaster since Ponting copped one from Roach some years ago. We have no idea who should bat 4. Clarke is the best choice, but makes so many more runs at 5. Number 6 will remain a revolving door while the other batting slots are changing. Haddin is the best batting option as a keeper but isn't top class with the gloves. Not that there's anyone else putting pressure on. He's another 1-2 year bloke before we'll need someone else. Agar was a great story in the first test but his bowling is poo. The fact they went with him to start with after Lyon did better than anyone since Warne tells a story about where our spin stocks are. Doubly so when Steve Smith looks our best spin option. At least the seamers are doing ok. Harris and Siddle work well for me. They can take wickets and most importantly can bowl at the other end when someone's going through a side. Pattinson is out of form but if we add a strike bowler to those two steadier types we'll take 20 wickets even without a solid spin option.

I used to laugh when England would trot out nobodies and past failures and hope they would turn things around, but now I find myself seriously thinking our best options might be to do just that. We'll lose this test and will need to win the last 3 to regain the ashes. So I'm going for broke. I might be the only bloke in the world to do this, but my third test line up looks like this

Rogers
Klinger
Ponting
Haddin
Clarke
Hughes
Smith
Warner
Pattinson
Siddle
Harris

The most in form top 3 we have available, Haddin batting where he's batted most of his first class career, Clarke in his best spot, Hughes back to where he made runs last test, Smith our spinner, Warner at 8 can still change the game without altering his natural game and the seamers as they are, although if Pattinson doesn't show something in the second innings I might be tempted to bring Starc back in.

Boof said this morning that it was Chris Rogers who told Watson to review his dismissal and the reason Rogers didn't review his was after he got the Watson review wrong he didn't have the confidence to review his own.

I just love Pietersons reaction in the team huddle,

His mouthing off at Watson, looks like his saying 'go on go on' and then when Watson does the review symbol Pieterson just pisses himself laughing and clear as day u can tell he says 'you f**king idiot'

Sums it up
Cricketers get paid to bat bowl field and wicketkeep, not to be defacto umpires
Let the umpires umpire the games, and the players play cricket

Agree that Watto uses up far too many reviews
Better system and FAIRER system would be to allow EVERY batsman 1 review each per game
The Australian tailenders dont get afforded the same luxuries as Watto who bats before them and often enough uses up reviewing wildcards

Chris Rogers
Unlucky ?
I know you make your own luck, and Chris should be using his bat better
But in his 3 Tests he has been unluckily out LBW on 3 occasions
2 that clearly missed the stumps, and a 50/50 decision against him

Maybe they should try giving teams just the one review then maybe players wouldn't use until there was a genuine howler
