batsmen always seem to get the rough end of the umpiring stick when they are in abd form too. poor haydos! who was the umpire? they may cost him a test spot....

It all just seems to be happening to Hayden though, why can't it happen to one of the lower order batsmen or South Africa.

If they proceed to drop Hayden, i will ******* kill the selectors.

It wont.. he will get until the end of the series IMO. if things havent improved by then they will think its time to find a combination for the Ashes. But i think he will come good.

If i was Hayden, i would just sit in a corner and cry...... i would feel totally gutted and depressed.

I feel for you Hayden, don't lie down and don't feel no shame.

I love you no matter what.

I can't believe that it was given when he missed it by so much. I can't think of a worse decision in test match cricket.

Especially in the context of his innings. He was hanging in there, finally struck a boundary to start dragging himself out of trouble then he gets out....to THAT.

What a disgrace.

I had initially though Steyn was appealing for a lbw decision when he get Hayden and it was caught and bowled, shocking decision.
But he was very lucky not to be out lbw to Steyn earlier on when not playing a shot
Both decisions were poor, however the problem is more deep seated as Matt hadrdly middled a ball for the entire innings.
However lets not forget he is 37 years old, its no disgrace to admit age is a factor he has done a great job for his nation and it might be time to consider his future.
Meanwhile Hughes, Klinger, Rogers are piling on runs and Jaques is still around, those four batsman cant be helping Matts mindset

Hayden was plumb when on zero and then later given out incorrectly. There are two consistent factors, poor umpiring and he's just not hitting the ball, in attack or defence. In Adelaide he looked the goods despite not making runs but today he looked miles off being a test player.

I thought he looked good in the first innings before he got out, but did look very scratchy today. Extra pressure maybe......

Didn't get to see that innings but three good shots does not a solid start make as you are no doubt aware.

Hayden's looked terrible for awhile. I said back in India his timing, footwork and shots are all over the place. Sure he shouldnt have been given but was very lucky not to be given on that LBW and was a couple of inches away from being caught in the slips. When all of that stuff goes at 37, you're done. It's sad I used to love watching him bat but unless he somehow finds form he needs to be put out of his misery after this series. I said awhile back I didnt think he was much chance to get to England and the way things are now he'd be lucky to even get to South Africa.

Give him the rest of this series and if he doesnt start looking like a Test batsman again we will need to blood the next opener in South Africa in preparation for England.

that is a very good post from you reb - hayden in form wouldve hit the ball and there wouldnt be an issue. just like dumminy didnt hit his either playing teh shot the way he did he cant have any complaints about being given out

i cant belive all the carrying on here about the decision like he is the only player ever to be given a harsh call - strauss almost had his test career ended a few years ago out here when he got 3 poor decisions in a row.
