Good post LM
Had SA won the toss the result may have differed

Joke thread!!!

At no stage did I write that we would've won, just didn't need anything else to go against us.

Yeah, lack the mental capacity and patience to execute plans in the longer form, batting for 100+ overs and waiting on the scoring opportunities versus only having to last 45 overs and create scoring opportunities are worlds apart IMO.

I have never seen a coach take wickets or make runs. Its the players

Why do we have a coach then?

My view is that while the ability of our players is probably the lowest out of the state teams, we shouldn't be that bad that we haven't scored a single point in the Shield in over a year, and have been flogged in so many of those games. I don't have the stats (Brod?) but I presume our 4-day batting average is quite a lot less than our 1-day batting average over the past year. There is no way a team should be averaging less in a format without any Over restrictions, so this indicates a large component of it is mental. In which case it is up to the coaches to create an environment where confidence exists.

So maybe they should bat like there are only 50 overs then, at least we might score 250 sometimes. (We haven't reached 250 in the first innings of a Shield game since November last year)

Will no doubt have better results then what is currently being served up, but you can't seriously think that is the way forward?

I would think a mentor or even a coach ( ) that instills a mental discipline that sees our players concentrate and apply themselves for long periods as well as a never say die attitude would be a decent start. Talent or no talent if you are good enough to play at that level you shouldnt consistantly collapse like the Jellybacks do - and I believe that is as much the coaches fault as the players.

I don't know, we did get beaten, we had our chances and let them slip, at least there were some signs of hope.

SA v TAS - Sheffield Shield @ Adelaide Oval 9/10-12/10

Postby test » Fri Oct 12, 2012 2:34 pm

They're just finished training on the oval, all 4 of them, when you finish a game 6 hours early surely there's some harsh work to be done?? They should be running 400's.... Hitting half pace balls to 2 fielders all afternoon isn't gonna change anything!! Need some boot camp. FFS

Its always the pitches fault, bad weather or bad luck that costs them games. What cop out, sick of their excuses.
Truth is it wouldnt matter if they played on hardwicket indoors they would still get beaten most weeks. Just a crap side, not up to standard

The way they play we need everything in our favor, going back to the Queensland game apparently we had Cutting caught & bowled not given when he was on stuff all. Umpire gave it not out without using any technology. As we know had it gone our way the result might have been different. Same with this game lost the toss and had to bowl on King William rd.

Last year majority of catches in the slips were low and diving fieldsmen couldn't get them to stick.

How about some luck FFS!

Good teams make their own luck.
No guarantee we would have gone any better if we had batted first this game

Tas 3/403
SA 20/373

Not just the score but look at the overs faced by both teams

Tas 112 overs...3 wickets
SA 118.4 overs....20 wickets (and 28 of those were for the 9th wicket in the 1st Inn)
