You have to be biased though mate ;) .

I make no bones about being biased ;) , I think the world of Crossie. However, if anyone saw the way he batted against Glenelg or against Northern Districts or witnessed some of his keeping (including the catch to get rid of Aaron Sayers in the Grand Final), they would know that he can certainly play!
Admittedly, the consistency of performance was not always achieved.
Cheers

No doubting his natural ability, to many people focus on the negatives on this site hence the Crossy bashing (some deserved, some not). He wasnt in great shape when he first started playing, he is an outstanding gloveman but as you said inconsistant batsmen who on his day can make it looke easy. Im all for Tim Davey getting a go, but if crossy focused on playing rather than talking sh*t he probably would be a much better player and worth having in the state.

Crosthwaite should keep his spot in the squad, as should Aaron O'Brien.

They shouldn't necessarily be in our first choice team, but they are handy enough that they should be retained.

Why would we be keeping 'senior/experienced' players who are not in our first choice team...we've seen what they can/cant do and obviously its not quite good enough.
Better to have young guys on the list if we are just filling it with guys 'not in our first choice team'

Don't know about all of them but yes some of them will be played there.

Certainly can't play day/night fixtures at the bay as the lights are not good enough.

Rob Cassell, former Victorian and one-season carp medium pacer is the new Redbacks bowling coach.

If he has a philosophy of "Do as I say, not as I did...", then we'll be sweet.

Geelong spinner moves to South Australia -Geelong Advertiser

GEELONG leg-spinner Jeremy Hart is crossing the border to chase his dream of playing first-class cricket.

Hart yesterday confirmed he was moving to South Australia where he's been encouraged by numerous meetings with high-ranking Redbacks' officials that there's greater opportunities to further his career in Adelaide than in Victoria.

The 26-year-old is taking leave without pay from his job in the Victoria Police force for 12 months to virtually become a full-time cricketer.

He's been encouraged to take the opportunity by his manager, former Australian and Victorian leg-spinner Bryce McGain.

While he hasn't been promised a contract with the Redbacks, Hart told the Geelong Advertiser that Redbacks coach Darren Berry and high performance manager Tim Nielsen have indicated that a strong start to the season in Adelaide grade cricket will see him force his way into the Redbacks one-day and Sheffield Shield teams.

"He (Berry) is a very attacking coach and his game style will suit my style of bowling I feel," Hart said.

"He's seen what a big part leg-spinners can play in four-day and one-day cricket and he said to me that he rewards grade cricket performances.

"When they started talking about their game plans and the spin bowling culture they're trying to create, it was very enticing and something I wanted to be part of it.

"Hopefully I start the season well, play 2nd XI cricket, get an opportunity (to play first-class cricket) and then do well enough to get a contract next year."

In the past three summers Hart has claimed an amazing 129 wickets for the Cats and was the leading wickettaker in Premier Cricket last season with 52 at an average of 18.58.

He was named in the Premier Cricket Team of the Year and won the Cats' Jason Bakker Club Champion award.

"We really hopes he takes this opportunity and plays first class cricket because that's his dream," Geelong coach Damian Shannahan said.

"You can't deny his performances the last three years. He's an exceptional talent and we'll still hang our hat on him if he represents South Australia."

The side that SA may have this year is interesting with a lot of new names. Plenty new ones from other states and maybe a big name or two?

So when does Johan "I dont play more than 20 overs at a time" Botha arrive to save us all?

Start of July next week, you would think the boys would be hard at the pre-season grind stone. Is our captain here helping develop our interstate-rejects....errr, I mean young talent?
