If he is the 6th best bat in Aust as we speak, its a long way down to the bottom for the aussies.

i think thats half the trouble cripple he aint the 6th best bat in australia and untill the selectors start picking 'the best side' these results against very good opposition will continue.

What most thought (not me tho) was the WORST selection decision at the start of the Ashes, that of Retaining Mike Hussey has turned out to be about the only right thing the selectors have done.
Apart from getting that right, they've been a complete and utter joke.
Hughes out of form.
Smith at 6
Johnson IN OUT IN whilst all the time out of form.
blah blah blah

Has there ever been a precedent where the selection panel has been replaced during a series bcos now is the perfect time to start if it hasn't been done b4.

Did you ever think you would see the day were a wicket keeper ran down the pitch making a T sign with his arms. Good use of the referral there.

You really have NFI NFC
How can you have Khawaja averaging 71 in the SS this season in this team, when the selectors have rightly put in Phil Hughes who is averaging 17 in the SS this season.

The problem was we needed an opener (Hughes) and with the policy of playing 4 quicks we needed a back up spinner who could bat 6 (Smith)

Nowhere for Khawaja to fit unless they make him open. Is that the right call? Not sure.

Perhaps they need to get back to basics and stick with 3 quicks + Watto + spinner and just play the best 6 batsman we can find. That would get Khawaja into number 6. Either play Smith as the spinner or bring back the prodigal son in Hauritz!

If Hughes isn't up to it he isn't up to it and maybe this just needs to be faced up to.

Michael Slater summed it up perfectly for mine... we're not any worse than England, we're just not playing well - or words to that effect.

What the commentators do not get through their skulls is that we ARE worse than England. Much worse. They apply pressure well, they bowl to a plan and they now have the mental edge over us.

So if we're even Mr Slater, why are we picking guys who are averaging 20 in Shield Cricket with the bat (Hughes), and 40 with the ball (Doherty, Beer), and reinstating Johnson who's done nothing to warrant a recall except other guys falling over themselves NOT to cement a place in the side.

Rubbish comment by Slater. And I heard Healy say a similar thing last test too. When will they realise we're ranked 5th for a reason?

How is it possible for 75% of the team to be totally out of form? I can understand 2, maybe 3 players struggling a little .. but this is just ridiculous.

And Tony Greig just said the English bowlers have been bowling that perfect length that can force a batsman into playing and edging. Quite right Tony. If it was our idiot pace attack they'd be thumping the ball in short and wondering why they're getting nothing out of the deck.

I wonder if the Aussies will learn anything from today. Somehow, I doubt it.

The ratings for the Ashes have been poor and are way down on what they were last time so the 9 hacks are saying anything in the hope of keeping people watching. I've had a gutful of Shane Warne and him and the others plugging his TV show on 9 whenever they get the opportunity.

Listening on abc today did anyone hear the commentators discussing greg chappels interview?
Greg apparantly stated that mitch was not dropped just rested in adelaide. He also stated that even before the series started that they had planned to rest johnson in adelaide. So my question is what if johnson had got a 5 or 6 fa in brisbane, would they have still rested him?
Just shows the selectors have NFI.
Ps id try khawaja opening

Atleast Johnson's finally done something, hopefully he gains a bit of confidence from this and carries it over to when the Aussie's bowl, need something special this next innings to keep the Aussie's alive.....

If we lose this match, i hope we get belted at the MCG and SCG, maybe they might bring some change into the side and some decent, common sense change at that.... thats a big maybe though

A member of this site has posted elsewhere that he has been seen in the Perth Qantas Club several hours ago, so presumably is off to wherever WA are playing...
