Pitch was playing a little differently yesterday, much easier batting conditions today.

That was said at the start of play based on the pitch deteriorating even more. Seems to have actually played better today than yesterday not to mention the South Africans haven't bowled very well with the exception of Morkel.

Me thinks that the message to Katich is
You just stay there until after tea and let the batsmen up the other end score the runs...we do not need a collapse

Surely with our bowlers struggling to take 20 wickets they would want to have the longest possible time to bowl at them with the greatest score on the board
We are only 2 wickets down, go the slog!

is the pitch playing better today or are we batting well/they bowling badly? it seems easier than yesterday. is the feeling still that it will fall appart tomorrow and even our unexperienced attack will be able to knock them over in 3 sessions?

When we play stupid shots and get out they get bagged... play a patient innings like Katich and get bagged... good knock by the Champ.

Well said. I am not sure what anyone would have wanted the Australians to do differently today. It has been an excellent TEAM batting effort in difficult conditions. We will have a good lead as a result. Someone had to anchor the innings whilst people were playing shots around them. The Kat did a great job. As was pointed out earlier of all the players to make over 1000 runs in Test cricket last year only 2 had a higher strike rate than the Kat but lets not let facts get in the way of the pre conceptions of some people

Where did i say Katich is a champion? He's a good player.

I also asked what more people would have liked the Australians to do today with the bat as a team? It's been a good effort so far i would have thought.

People bagged him in the first dig when he made 47 of 52, didn't hear Dutchy whinging then about how slow the Kat is  . Now people, like Dutchy, are bagging him for anchoring what has become a very good innings for Australia. I too say well done Kat. If all the batsmen had made 47 and 61 then i think we would be doing pretty well.

TEA at the SCG

Aust 3/219

Hussey 31*

Clarke 22*

Lead 337,

Get ready for some fireworks after tea, 100 in the first hour and then a declaration should be the go

I hope so i think we will declare with about 45 minutes to bowl at them and a lead of about 400.
