Not in the side for his batting.
His wicketkeeping is below average.

Get used to it Jimbo

Yep and to be honest if your pace bowlers bowl well a keeper won't let through many byes.

His biggest issues is his keeping to Lyon but heading into an Ashes I wouldn't be surprised to see the Aussies play 4 pacemen

A bloke like Cowan has been more of a liability with his running between wickets and his fielding.

Also in a innings like this Wades 100 meant the tail were in effect able to get 60 runs themselves, so in total he has helped to add 160 to the innings, there is no way a great keeping performance would save 160 runs to often in an innings

Gilchrist is under rated with his keeping. Did a very good job keeping to Warne.

I notice no one predicted that Wade would make a century today. Good to know we respected the curse. Well done, lads.

In respect of the curse I can see Jayawardene making a great captains 100 today.

Also this Karunaratne looks a good prospect

Agree Sleepy

GilCHRIST was average at best early in his career
Haddin was average at best early in his career
Only difference is that Gilly improved , Braddy got worse
And yes Gillys keeping to Warney was good enough

As for Matty , time will tell
Jimbo has reservations on Matty keeping to spin in the sub continent
Aussie keepers dont keep to much to spin in Domestic cricket
Matty deserves an extended time keeping for Australia to spinners, anywhere, b4 we pass a more accurate judgement

Agree with Bill Lawry, huge innings for Lyon here, has proven his reliable and can do a job especially in the first innings.

But has struggled to really get through a line up in the second dig, this pitch suits, the Lankans are only average he needs a few.

This may decide whether he gets a game in England or they go with four pacemen

we desperately need a wicket, don't want to be chasing 200 or more.

No wonder Lyon can't take a wicket when both keeper and slip can't catch off his bowling.

Lyon bowling well but if his keeper can't back him up then what's the point.

Gilly was probably at times judged harshly because he came straight after Healy. He wasn't as good as Healy, which is no disgrace, but was far better than Haddin and, so far, Wade.

There are other ways to get wickets ;)

He just needs to keep creating chances

Apart from the drop catch I think every other ball hit the middle of the bat!

I'm still spewing I lost money because of that drop, had the wicket to fall before 105.5

Got to love the Sri Lankans fight. Lot of teams, especially from the sub continent would have given up by now. Add the fact they were embarrassed in the last test.
