SACA wrote:Edge go top; NT Strike take points v Grit
A magnificent 159 from left-hand opening batsman Ben Dougall has led the Eastern Edge to a commanding first-innings win against the Northern Mavericks.
In the top of the table clash it was the Edge who took the ascendancy early with an opening stand of 218 after the Mavericks won the toss and chose to bowl.
Dougall and Tim Evans (102) dominated the Mavericks bowling attack to set the match up for the Edge.
A late cameo from Michael Cranmer (51 off 39 balls) helped the Edge declare at 6 for 347. Steve Marks led the way for the Mavericks with 5/58.
In reply, the Mavericks were dismissed for 258 with opener Dan Harris (55) and Isaiah Borgas (51) the best of the batsmen.
Elliot Opie was the best with the ball with 3/69 along with fellow Redbacks Nick Winter (2/50) and Adam Zampa (2/50).
The Northern Territory Strike continued their run of good form with a dominant first-innings victory over the Western Grit.
The Grit posted 258 batting first on Saturday, Jake Lehmann again the best with 73 supported by Trent Lawford with 48 and Sam Raphael (34).
Troy Ryan took 3/76 for the Strike with Taylor, Reichstein and Dalton taking two wickets each.
It was a collective effort from the Strike batsmen in reply declaring at 8/461; Greg Clarence falling agonisingly short of a century, caught on 99.
Cameron Francis blasted 84 from 56 balls while Luke Robins was devastating with 45 from just 11 balls, putting six over the rope.
The Strike pushed for outright points, but the Grit finished 2 for 57 at stumps.
