dhoni - you dickhead

the aussies get a run from an overthrow that ricocheted off the stumps and knocked the bails off so Dhoni chases, grabs and throws at the bail-less wickets

There was still a chance for a run out there though

Need to pull a stump out if the bails are already off dont you?

correct brodlach

and the chance of a run out in that instance was zilch as no fielder went to the stumps

If the throw is hard enough and knocks the stump out of the ground then that's out.

Not a bad effort to raise the bat 5 times in a days play. What a super day for Australian Cricket.

Stumps day 2
India 191
Clarke 251 *
If Clarke can lead by 100, and then India makes about 200, it will make an interesting chase of about 100 for Clarke

4th 388 WH Ponsford, DG Bradman v England Leeds 20 Jul 1934

What about this

I reckon its the first time Ive seen something NOT happen today in Australias innings in Test Cricket
I will post this non happening after stumps tonight
Unless someone knows or guesses it

Well this is how it ends up
When Ponting got out this sequence had ended
At 3/325 the ball prior to Ponting getting out
NO Right hand Australian batsman had been dismissed in the AU 1st innings
NO right hand bowler had taken a wicket for India
How often would that sequence taken place in an innings up to 325 runs ?

When was the last time an Australian former captain (Ponting) and his replacement (Clarke) scored a century and double century in the same innings

Locky , Im tipping never

This match
14 wickets
673 runs
Spin has not taken a solitary wicket as yet

SPIN
Lyon 0/25 [8]
Ashwin 0/103 28]
Shewag 0/38 [14]
Total 0/166 [50]

PART TIMERS
Hussey 0/8 [2]
Kholi 0/23 [8]
Total 0/31 [10]

This deck has flattened out a fair bit now
India will have some good batting conditions next innings
This will be their chance to rack up some runs
If the Snickedgemiesters Shewhack + Gambhir can get the team of to a good start, they can make a big total

Will have a few more after today...

Greg Chappell (254) and Kim Hughes (88) came close at Faisalabad in 1980 after Chappell replaced Hughes as captain when he came back from WSC.
Graham Yallop 268 (268) and Kim Hughes (94) at Melbourne 1983 - other way round I know Hughes replaced Yallop as captain during the 1979 Pakistan series.
