How are they cheating? by appealing? :?

I ignored that comment Dutchy, cos really I didn't understand what they were talking about.

It's not rocket surgery. By ignoring the available technology they aren't playing within the spirit of the game. Whether or not that is cheating is a grey area though...techincally speaking they are not but you can't tell me that no DRS didn't leave a sour taste in your mouth today. But then again, it could have been that Belgian beer I was drinking.

REB, seriously. Playing within the spirit of the game? That's drawing a long bow. If Australia decided to buck the system and NOT go with the DRS, we'd be seen as "traditionalists" and all the bullshizen that goes with it. India do it and they're 'not playing within the spirit of the game'. FFS, the umpires gave them out, and it is in Australia. It's not like they're likely to benefit from it over the course of the journey.

He's still gone for mine. Not going on with it once he does the hard work, no balance at all during the initial stages of his innings and finding new ways to get out and sconned once again today. IMO these are all the hallmarks of an experienced player who has lost his eye and is struggling to maintain his levels of concentration. However, the selectors have it right at the moment as he is still better than those that are currently not knocking the door down.

And despite all that (yawn), the fact still remains, 3 half centuries from 5 innings.

Why play with DRS when your tactic is to appeal for anything and everything and then bank on the powers of persuasion? Where it is available it should be used to counter this type of tactic.

Ahh Quichey but you broach a slightly different topic. If it's available everywhere, and adopted everywhere, why limit it to 3 appeals?

So either India are interested in conserving time or the ICC aren't serious about the entire thing.

I guess you turned it off after the first 10 minutes of his innings then?

What part of what I wrote was rubbish? If you say all of it was then you are saying is that Ponting's footwork is fine, which it isnt. This is why the Kiwis and other nations are trapping him LBW by opening up the onside and having him play around that front foot. His centre of balance is not there and his head falls towards the offside. The Kiwis successfully trapped punter LBW in Hobart using this tactic and Philander did the same in the republic. Rubbish? Irrefutable fact.

The last time the Indians were out here Ponting got sconned and I thought 'cripes that's not like Punter' but it's happened on more than a few occasions since. He is also not going on with it as a statistic of no tons for two years might suggest. His powers of concentration appear to leaving him. Rubbish? No, this is something that is obvious to all but the most dimwitted observers of the game. But perhaps that is giving you to much credit because all you seem to be looking at are scoresheets as your wafer thin replies seem to offer little else.

I am most puzzled as to the defensive nature of your post. I posted a few observations about Ponting's game while all the while I was supporting the selectors decision to stick with him because as has been pointed out the three half centuries out of five innings stat is one does a fading Punter great credit. But clearly he is not the batsmen he was. All you can do is say I sprout rubbish. If that's the case show me the error of my ways and set my mind at ease and present an arguement. Either that or you can keep your head in the sand with your arse high in the air so I can continue to kick it.

For the record I think Punter should have gone two years ago but if the selectors and Pup stand by him I want him to succeed because he wears a baggy green.

The sooner the ICC grows some balls and tells the BCCI in India that it runs world cricket and not them the better.

Of course, whilst everyone is drunk on the revenue India brings to world cricket this will never happen.

The first hint of India making threats on this tour (like they did last time they were here), let the ICC and CA call their pathetic bluff.

Again, pigs will fly ...
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.
