I agree ... you can't refer those type of catches to the thrid umpire.

The commentators have said Rudi Koertzen thought he didn't catch it but referred to the 3rd umpire as confirmation. I don't want to be disrepectful, but I've seen enough of Rudi's umpiring over the past couple of years to suggest Rudi wouldn't have had a clue.

England really only need another 100 and Australia are out of the Test match. Let's hope for rain.

Hopefully the Poms bat until the end of the day, then we have a day of rain and a day of Aussies batting out the draw.

Over the past few years, the umpires at the wrong end of the pinnacle have been Koertzen and Bucknor.

The best were unfortunately caught up in Pakistan when they should be allowed to umpire home matches - being biased can't work with all the cameras around.

Entirely my opinion of course. ;)

I agree. There was always this theory that home umpires were favouring the home teams way too much, and I'm sure at times they were. Indian umpires were cheats, West Indian umpires were afraid of having their houses burnt down if they gave Viv Richards out, Bill Lawry was never out LBW in Australia, etc.

It seemed the only place you could go to receive quality umpiring was the UK as they had full time professionals whose livelihood depended upon doing a good job.

However, since they've gone to the "neutral" umpiring system, the neutral umpires are still being swayed by crowds and the home teams are still receiving the dubious ones. It's time English & Aussie umpires were allowed to officiate in Ashes series because, as you say, technology will certainly show them up if any "mistakes" were made.

The number 1 English & Aussie umpire should be appointed to umpire all 5 Tests in an Ashes series.

They are a strange breed aren't they? Always quick to frown upon what they preceive to be abhorant Aussie behaviour, and yet they have been responsible for some of the greatest attrocities in cricket history. "British fair play" has always been a term of amusement to me. :)

Also guys one positive thing to come out is the fact that Hauritz has been fairly good in this test. Has showed a bit and is getting better. Bit of flight, curve and some spin.

Hopefully Brett Lee is fit for 3rd test, should sent Mitchell Johnson back to Australia tell him to get his head out of his arse and get fit, learn how to bowl with seam on ball straight and then we will come and see you. He is the laughing stock of the Aussie bowling at the minute.

If only I'd seen this post last night, I could've done my National duty.

It is currently raining where I live (not far from Wimbledon), not sure it would be at Lords though. Forecast is heavy showers, but they've been forecasting that every day this week and it hasn't eventuated. The one time you want it to rain in London and it doesn't. It rains every f*cking day usually!

The Fox guys there are doing their feeds with umbrellas but BJ said it's just stopped raining. Looks like there will be at least some sort of delay to the start of today's play.

I recall a test where they batted on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on
and on
and on
and on
and on
and on
and declared giving the WI a target of about 510
A
N
D
WI were 9/370
:butthead:

SplitEnz once sang ""History never repeats"" or will they be contradicted ?

Bloody Pommy weather ... what are you doing over there anyway? ;)

Just like the recent Wimbledon Championship ... the Poms spend $200M on a roof and it only rains one afternoon.

There is a major music festival on in London today which increases the likely hood of rain by 50%. You could never have a major event in London and it not be ruined by the weather.

It looks like the rain will be on and off most of the day. Lets hope more on than off.

Don't they put "possible rain" in the weather forecast every day over there? :)
