Great day for the Aussies but even better great performances by Siddle and Hauritz, we have seen something special today from both I have mentioned, funny how Clarkes innings of being so slow was mentioned (and yes by myself) but in the washup how valuable. I summed it up yesterday as being a 50/50 game, today I would say 70/30 in the aussies favour

Clarke's innings was absolutely superb. He wasn't hitting it well but just refused to get out. He hung around while guys were making runs then when he needed to he made the runs himself. He batted so well with the lower order as just like Steve Waugh he had faith in them and was more than willing to give them the strike. Really was a brilliant and mature knock from a guy who will no doubt be a long term captain of the side.

That is the biggest thing he has lost in the last 12-18 months IMHO, his ability to bully the attack has gone and he is nowhere near as intimidating to bowl to anymore.

a decent lead tomorrow WYC perhaps he can have the freedom to do do that, if not I think it will be a sad farewell to a great Aussie Test Cricketer

If Australia wins this Test, they'll go to Sydney unchanged ... no matter how many runs Hados makes. They want to take Hayden to South Africa.

Want and do are two different things. I have no doubt he'll play in Sydney anyway but unless he makes some serious runs in the rest of this series he's gone. I believe him getting out early all the time plays on Ponting's mind all the time too considering lately he would need to be in the mindset of an opener with the added pressure of knowing he has to hang around.

I'm glad some are starting to see the value in Hauritz. I'm not his biggest fan out there but I was shocked White got the call up above him in India also given Hauritz's history over there. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a bag at the SCG, he's really matured as a bowler and also did a nice job for us here against the Kiwi's.

How conventional, everyone was bagging Australia. Now theres a glimpse of what these blokes can deliver and it all of a sudden becomes a tad exciting. Not exciting as in the previous era but an excitement of who is going to be the next big thing. We have some quicks and a 20 year old Hughes playing in NSW who looks to be a very good prospect and maybe a good recipe to keep us up in the top nations in Test cricket. Ok it's not like 12-13 years ago when every man and his dog in Australia knew we would dominate world cricket with Australia A feilding Blewwett, Hayden, Langer, Lehmann, Ponting, Martyn, Gilchrist, Macgill, Gillespie and a handfull of quicks and they all couldnt get a gig at the Australian line up but there is some talent coming through which was not seen 12 months ago. Also dogger I beleive Test cricket will never die in Australia,England,South Africa and India and they will eventually become the only test cricket nations. Prehaps they are the only worthwhile ones anyway and we could get back to 5 test series rather than the 2 and 3 test rabble we see now....

We are in the box seat, we should win this and if we don't, i will think about committing suicide.

Also, i am praying for one thing, Hayden to crack a massive ton, that would really bring a nice end to the year.

Lee much to my disapointment will be flown straight to the Riverina to hand pick some fresh oranges ready to serve up to his team mates in Sydney.
He bowled today with no momentum, 10ks slower with lots of effort every time he looked for that extra yard he strayed. I was once told a bowling action is like a golf swing.

Whitelinefever, I not sure there is a person alive that would pick a player who could not make it in a first class team to come out and bowl that well in a test match.
