nah I'll wait to see how he goes in 2-3 years time if he's still producing after he's been challenged by international attacks

Seen plenty of blokes make great starts and then get found out (Phillips, North, Quiney) in 2-3 years

Not saying he wont and he's played bloody well but he's still got a long way to go.

Bethell is the first English number three to score an Ashes hundred since Jonathan Trott in the 2010 Melbourne test match.

Closer to 2-3 minutes in Quiney's case. Made 9 & DNB in his first test and a pair in his second.

What more does he need to do at this stage of his career?

Just noticed on the scorecard Australia have 5 penalty runs against them, what was that for :shock:

Whilst I agree with you, his average in first innings is 9. That will be something he needs to improve upon sharply!
