You did reasonably well but can't pay this one haha, I suspect that Carse won't be a long-term test player but he's a long way from the poms' worst flop.

I don't see him having a long term future either, he really is a Neil Wagner bang it in operator which probably swayed me to saying i was close but realistically Potts, Wood, Archer, Duckett have all been far worse.

I know all the jokes of a bloke who hasn't made a first-class century batting at 3 at test level but i like alot about Bethell.

At 23 seems to have a good temperament, plays on the edge of aggressive without being stupid, nice well rounded technique front foot and back foot and has that bit of swagger confidence most super elite sportsmen seem to have.

Has an ODI 100 which suggests the step up in quality bowling is completely above his level, there is some hope there.

Definitely one to watch in the future but will take into account we have no Cummins, Hazelwood or spinner.

Not sure about this "if" word, he'll be selected and star against the minnows which will earn him another half a dozen tests.

Most Australian test cricketers at the time would have played a few matches before their first test that are still regarded as FC, i.e. even before the Shield existed, but there weren't too many centuries back in those days.

E.g. Charles Bannerman, star of the very First Test, had played 8 FC matches before that test, but recorded only 2 half-centuries and no centuries in those 8 matches.
