This has nothing to do with the Adelaide Oval redevelopment. In 2014/15 there will be only the one 4 test series v India due to the World Cup being held here and NZ in Feb/March 2015.

No doubt there will be near capacity crowds for the WC games the Oval hosts provided it is not Kenya v Afghanistan

I think that you can take it that it was a promise that we would not miss a test due to the Stadium upgrade. If we do miss a test next summer, it is one we would have missed irregardless of the upgrade.

"We will never lose the Adelaide Test if we have this development," said McLachlan during the SACA's "roadshow" briefing to country members in Berri.
"We want to put Adelaide in the No. 3 position on the Test calendar (behind Melbourne and Sydney, but ahead of Brisbane). That is the only way to keep Adelaide in a guaranteed position (for Test matches).
"This is business for Cricket Australia - and if you don't have the facilities, you lose their business."

Keep guessing!!!!

Just another lie!!!!

It really is a muckraking story though. Adelaide is in exactly the same position as Melbourne and Sydney re current status for a test on the 2014/15 calendar. Are you going to condemn the MCC and the SCC(?) for not having had dealings with Cricket Australia yet re a test for 2014/15?? As the article states, THERE HAS BEEN ABSOLUTELY NO DISCUSSION WITH ANY STATE CRICKET ASSOCIATION RE TESTS FOR THE 2014/15 CALENDAR!!
Richard Earle has just used his own thinking, believing that Adelaide deserves number five ranking. Cricket Australia is not necessarily of the same opinion.

MClachlan claims by developing Adelaide Oval we will be third ranked by CA behind MCG and SCG.

We arent. Perth are.

He also claims if we re-develope we will never miss a test.

We are a possibility to miss one 8 months after the deveopements completion.

Was he truthful ??? Or did he make a few promises he couldnt actually keep ???

The WACA is a shithole and is about to be undergoing a huge construction project, you'd say they would be missing a Test next year as building a large apartment complex on the boundary to the oval isn't a small undertaking

Read the article PAFC1870.

IT clearly states Perth wont miss out and even tells you why.

Its out of Adelaide and GABBA as to who misses out.

UKFan, please show me where he stated Adelaide is third behind Melbourne and Sydney?
Also, no, he is not telling lies. If there is a five test program, Adelaide will not miss out on a test. However, if the Adelaide redevelopment did not go ahead it could.
With next year being only a four test series two cities will miss out. Based on population, that would be Hobart and Adelaide. I will guarantee you now that if the redevelopment did not go ahead, Adelaide would have missed. The redevelopment is the only thing saving a possibility of Adelaide holding a test in 2014/15.

No, Richard Earle is not lying, he is just stating an opinion. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, some will be right, some will be wrong.
However, my gut feeling is that Adelaide will host a test in 2014/15 because Cricket Australia will reward us for the redevelopment. I also believe that if there was no redevelopment, we would miss out on a test in 2014/15. I could be right, I could be wrong.

However, if there is a test, be thankful of the redevelopment. It is almost certainly the only thing that will have delivered us the test.

Sorry mclachlan didnt state. Without the deveopement we will miss a test.

He stated and I have even got in bold for you WE WILL NEVER LOSE THE ADELAIDE TEST IF WE HAVE THIS DEVELOPEMENT>

Which is the complete opposite to Adelaide could miss out on a test next summer even if we spend the $600 Mill.

Maybe read Mclachlans quote twice before responding and making sure you really really understand what Mclachlan is promising SACA members.

Well, he is still correct. Adelaide will not have LOST a test as a result of the redevelopment. If there was no redevelopment, we would almost certainly not be holding a test in 2014/15. Therefore, if we were not going to be having the test anyway, we have not lost it. You cannot lose something you do not have.

The only time that Adelaide is certain of having a test at the moment is when there is a five test series. McLachlan is correct in saying that, as a result of the redevelopment, we will NEVER LOSE a test.

Tis not a case of me having to read his quote twice, UkFan my friend. You just have to realise that you have to have something to be able to lose it. Adelaide currently has a test as a result of a five test program. With a four test program, it does not necessarily have a test.

He also states that he WANTS to put Adelaide Oval in number three spot. A want is a bit different to a promise. We may well be in number three spot because of the redevelopment. We would be the third best oval to host a test. However, it is not just the quality of the oval and stadium that determines where tests are held, population has a lot to play in determining that too. Sadly, we have only the fifth highest population so we really should be in number five spot. What we have to do is go out there and make lots of babies!!! ;)

All I can do is leave that with you.

Mclachlan never stated we will lose a test without the developement. HE stated "We will never lose the Adelaide Test if we have this development," I cant see where he says dependant on whether we get 4/5 tests stated anywhere

Now BP (this threads kickinit) is it not possible that after being promised we will NEVER lose a test again.

That Adelaide could go next summer without a test. YES OR NO ??????

UK Fan, very frustrating argument, cannot understand your logic. If there are 4 tests, MCG, SCG will get two, that leaves Gabba, Waca, Adel and Bellrieve to get the other two. It might be Adelaide it might not, as CA does the programming prior to the start of the season and if there are only 4 tests per summer, it goes to reason it will be on a rotational basis.

Enough of that, I am not a fan of Mclaughlan.

I think your issue is, firstly you believed McLaughlan - politician, now you are believing Richard Earle - a journalist. If life has taught me one thing, it is do not believe a politician or a journalist, the truth lies in probably 10% of what they say or write, just filter the 90% of bulls..t, that pads their presentation.
