The Sydney Sixers have pulled off one of the most remarkable T20 victories in BBL franchise history.
Chasing the Auckland Arsewipes total of 202 from their alloted 20 overs, the rain affected match was decided by the Duckworth Lewis Mal method. The controversial method saw the teams wait until 12:25am to head out with the robotic hat stands and with the DLM method being used, struck a single boundary from the only ball of the innings to see the Sixers win by default.
The DLM system was devised by statistical genuises and some old bloke from Adelaide who realised that T20 cricket was so meaningless that all Sydney had to do was be in front of the opposition at the same time in the Sydney innings as the Arsewipes were in theirs.
With Shaun Tait opening the bolwing for the Sixers and bowling an uncustomary wide with his first, second and third balls and then a surprising dot ball with the fourth, leaving the 'Wipes at 0/3 from one legal delivery all that Sydney needed to do was hit a boundary from the first ball to be in front.
Ageing, yet spritely Brad Haddin, accepted the gift short ball and knocked it to the fine leg rope. Moments later the rain again began to fall and at 12:38am ( AEST ) the match was officially awarded to the Sixers.
The Sixers head into the cut throat semi-final against the Wellington Wankers next week.
