Wouldnt be surprised to see Gayle open the bowling. If they can restrict teams to under 280-290 i think they will feel there in most matches.

Bowling wise they have

Roach
Miller/Rampaul
Sammy
Dw.Bravo
Benn
Gayle
Pollard
and possibly Sarwan

Lol. How many foreign teams do you support? Melbourne Victory, Gold Coast and now West Indies?

I don't think that short spells with 7 bowlers is going to work in a 50 over game. It might work in T20 where a cheap over or two is massive, but in 50 overs I think the batsmen will pick off the bowlers more easily as the innings wears on.

Worry for me is who slows down a fast start? Roach goes for runs early who stop it? Bravo is the best death bowler so you don't want him bowling too much earlier (with PP overs you could easily expect him to bowl 4-5 overs in the last 10)

But in all honestly, you won't win a world cup if you concede 280-290 regularly. You need to keep teams down to 250 or lower most of the time.

Both my mother and father and all there family are Jamacian so i have always followed the West Indies!

Gayle out for two with J Botha opening the bowling for the Saffies...

Botha, Tahir, Peterson, Faf du Plessis, Smith, Duminy...
Penny for your thoughts on their tactics?

WI 222
Pollard out first ball batting at 8
Dwayne Bravo 73(82)
Darren Bravo 40(37)

Tahir 4/41(10)
Steyn 3/24(7.3)
Chucker Botha 2/48(9)
WI were 4/178 and looked like setting a decent total but collapsed at end, the saffers should chase that down with plenty to spare

Windies will play collapso cricket a bit with all the goers they have. One reason I think Chanderpaul is so important to them. I think he should bat 4 and aim to just knock the ball around. They don't suffer a lack of hitting, just a lack of nudgers and nurdlers.

They're brittle. On low slow decks, with the ball not coming onto them, they'll struggle.

Didnt exactly go to plan,

still think there was enough there to suggest if they can post those bigger scores there bowling attack might just have enough to defend them.

Good to see 'my man' Darren Bravo start the WC off with a 70 odd.

They might be able to post bigger scores, but I can't see them doing it regularly enough, and with such a weak bowling attack even a good score might get chased down a bit too easily.

But that was a thrashing. South Africa were on target to chase down 300 if needed. Windies probably should have sored 50 more runs with the wickets in hand with 10 overs left, but even that probably wouldn't have saved them after seeing South Africa bat.

Yeah South Africa look the goods, they have picked up another gem in Tahir, and with a top 4 of Smith, Amla, Kallis, AB they are going to be very hard to dimiss.

Heres hoping to a tradition South African choke, they will definatly be in the tournament come semi final time.
