Some observations from chez lounge:

The Poms Whites look better than the creams of the Aussies

The Poms look sharper in the field than the Aussies

The Aussies look more comfortable at the crease than the top order Poms

Broad is bowling very ordinarily - and they left out Harmison? Strange.

Katich is still annoying to watch - because he's unorthodox.

Can't quite work out the pitch

Swann much better than Monty. Drift will equal wickets on the right deck/with the right field

Monty has looked more dangerous than Swann IMO. Although Flintoff is the only bowler to give us any trouble so far, they have bowled more poorly than us.

I don't mind watching katich being unorthodox as long as he is making runs :D .

Re Katich - agreed! I've got $45 on him at $11.50 to be highest run scorer! couldn't give a flying you know what..... just an observation.

Both Katich and Ponting are looking very comfortable atm, hope that isn't a curse.

1/181 as Katich drives Flintoff through wide mid off for four :) .

AHHHHHHHHHHHH, don't say that.........hehehehe, that used to be a jinx in our cricket team.

Back to some more observations:

Don't wanna be chasing a heap of runs in the fourth dig on this deck

Why isn't Krezja on tour/playing? He'd be ideal on this deck if not others in the UK

Coverage on Fox/SBS is brilliant - very impressed.

England setting attacking fields still at 1-200! Interesting. Slip, bad pad, silly mid on...... I know Australia wouldn't.

True! we might only be 1/170!

Another observation:

I wouldn't have worn sunglasses like Pie-eaterson even in the 80's.

The draw was paying $2 on betfair at 10pm but Australian's can't bet on it. I would've thought it'd be a monty. Rain is due according to the forecasts.

Captain's knock by Punter, what a ton #38! I honestly wasn't sure he had another one left in him.

Ponting and Katich have really set us up now.

And he does! Another massive statement that! Look at little Johnny Howard stand and applaud, eyebrows twitching in the overcast glow...

1/249 at stumps. Brilliant, brilliant stuff, but still a good 190 to knock off.

Earlier tonight Rodney Hogg said no one will be getting a century in this Test and two are scored just a few hours later.

Still a lot of runs to chase and who knows what tomorrow's conditions will bring. Hoping we can simply remain focused, deal with any possible changes in conditions (and that new ball) and get to that first innings target.
