Couldn't possibly write him off when his first two test matches have been on decks like this. Plus there's another innings to go, he may yet have an impact.

Wasn't the reason that Perth got the South Africa test is because they have a large South African community? There has barely been a ripple of applause for anything they do, so where are they?

Forget the talk of a Haydos decline, I'm worried about Brett Lee. He has always built success on his pace, which was true even when he started leading our attack; sure it dropped a tad but it was still right up there and he could throw in the 150+ effort ball when he needed to. Now it's declining significantly, he's not able to frighten batsmen anymore and it's blokes like Johnson who are providing the breakthroughs.

He's been economical that's for sure, but as the "leader" of our attack it's not nearly enough. His troubles with illness and personal life of late have been well-documented and I'm not giving up on him yet, BUT I'm more concerned about him than anyone else in our side atm.

And as I type Johnson provides the breakthrough, after nothing from several Lee overs.

Reminiscent of that spell that Bruce Reid bowled against England mid 80's, i reckon was at the WACA as well.

Thommo's comments that he's a once in a generation bowler seem to be coming true.

EDIT: it was Lillee not Thommo who said that.

Johnson magnificent 7/42 from 18 overs.

What is it with Morkel and Steyn batting with their shirts hanging out? Parklands stuff.

It was funny watching the Betfair and TAB odds throughout the day. They were fairly close for the most part and at one stage us and the Saffers were both at $3.xx, then in the space of a few minutes we dropped to $1.40 and them over 10 bucks. Bloody brilliant spell from Johnno!!

8/243 at the close of play. All hail Johnno :D

Well done Johno, i was a bit harsh on him at times, but his put it right back in my face, taking vital wickets.

Australia will win this Test now, unless something very strange happens tomorrow.

My word he can. I was as sceptical as anyone about Krezja but i am quite happily devouring a large slice of humble pie as we speak.

RR Think you, like me had the same scepticalism about Johnson when he first came on the test scene from memory and I have changed my opinion on him greatly.

Geez it's good to be wrong once in a while

I liked Johnson when he was first picked but quickly grew tired of the poor lines he bowled. He frustrated me a lot. He has improved significantly though from the start of the Indian tour. He can still bowl a bit too wide of the right handers off peg at times but when he gets it right he is probably our most dangerous bowler as he showed today. If he could bowl an inswinger to the right handers he'd be a whole lot better though.

Settle down there Tiger.... ;)

He's not in those bowlers class yet but gee funny what happens when you bowl good areas and ask the batsmen questions....

I wonder what president dennis was thinking an hour ago as his boy was running through the Jarpies like a dose of Epsom Salts...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Bloody Hell

I wrote the Aussies off half way through day 1  , just get home from work and Mitchell has ripped through them....

Get the last wickets cheap, and the Aussies will be well on top....
