Hard to knock back those numbers, no need to rush Short in, has he made runs in 50 over cricket?

Strike while the iron's hot, he's more nimble in the field and scores quicker.

I don't think you could go too far wrong with either but give me youth any day of the week with World Cups coming up.

Tend to agree, and while a few of us (myself included) have reservations about the BBL quality, you can't deny Short is striking the ball beautifully. As noted by Junior, he is keeping the nut still, and not loosing his shape. Pick him now!

Only problem is we arent looking for an opener, Warner and Finch have that covered, Dont agree with White but it was never going to be Short. If Warner wants a rest then yeah bring Short in

Ahhh, I thought Lynn would open, I didn't assess the squad thoroughly enough.

I forgot that Finch still plays cricket.

Surely the selectors don't look at 20/20 stats solely for selection of the one day squad ?

T20 has been the form guide for the Aussie side for the past few years - it's more important than shield and ODD comps now.

What choice do they have?

Smith has stated that Maxwell needs to take training more seriously and put his head down when he gets his next chance.

He sort of strikes me as a bit of a flash in the pan look what I can do character, would rather a dazzling 35 than a gritty 50.

 You're talking about a bloke who would be batting prob 5-7 in a ODI side here! He would be coming in with somewhere in the vicinity of 15 overs left, if that - "a dazzling 35" would be far more important than a gritty 50 by the time he strides to the crease.

He hits a hard ball, he scores fast, and he has unconventional shots - he's 5yrs younger than White and a more likely prospect for the next world cup.

8. Cummins
9. Starc
10. Zampa

Richardson & Tye will rotate in to rest the quicks over the series, White will be lucky to see game time anyway.

The test playing quicks will be the ones rotating.

I'd leave Paine out altogether form the ODI's if they plan on keeping him in the test side for a few years, he's likely to snap a finger in the Nothing Cup.

Marcus Stoinis and Jhye Richardson are rated 2nd and 5th respectively as the highest economy rate in the BBL this season.

He doesn't.

Less than impressive BBL, 108 @ 18 with a 137 S/R.

Take his 51 out and its a tad over 11 average.

Stoinis wont bowl much, and Richardson is a better prospect in a longer format than T20 I think.
