Interesting thoughts in this article from global bank analyst on what Ch 9 should do with their cricket coverage. Troubling times ahead perhaps for Cricket Australia?

Well these prices for sporting TV rights have gone through the roof, eventually it is going to get to point where expectations are far too much!

How much of the cricket is on the anti-siphoning list?

You would think fox would be very interested in the rights

Cheers.

Is it time for the anti-siphoning list to become a thing of the past?

If Ch9 cant pay for it but fox could, what would be better for cricket?

Sounds like Ch9 want to poach the big bash, but you would think Ch10 wont be letting go of that any time soon

C9 can pay for it, it's just their bank has told them they're paying about $40m too much!

I reckon they'll want the Big Bash for no extra money. C10 is broke so they won't want the whole package ( normal summer and the BBL ) and C7 has too much live sport to cover with the AFL and Australian Open either side of the summer of cricket.

As for the anti-siphoning, no, I can't agree with that being reduced or downplayed. Our national sporting side which really is our cricket team as the others ( basketball etc ) don't have the same following must remain on FTA when it's summer, in Australia....I like the sound of leather on willow Bill.... ;)

Cricket going from FTA broadcasting to exclusively Fox (or similar) would be to the detriment of the sport in this country.

Couldn't agree more, how could anyone think that taking cricket from free to air tv and having it only on pay tv could be beneficial to the game (and I have Foxtel).

As someone with Foxtel, I agree with all of you.
Cricket has to stay on FTA
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Ashes test will be at the WACA because the new stadium in Perth won't be ready. Hope all of our quicks are up and about and the pitch is lively. One last chance to smash the poms at the WACA

That is a massive **** up from all involved. That new stadium in Perth don't get me wrong will be a success, however because of its location will not live up to its full potential. The reason why AO is so successful is not just because of its facilities. It because 90% of Adelaide are within stuff all distance of only getting 1 piece of public transport to get to the venue. Per population Perth is Australias most spreadout city and there are substantial pockets that will need to take at least 2 forms of public transport to get there.

The new stadiums pitches clay soil will be sourced from the same spot as the WACA the last time I heard. Has that changed?

Does anyone seriously think the pay dispute between Cricket Australia and players will impact on the Ashes tour?
