First hour was good but went backwards from there. I switched off and went and did some work when they started bowling all that legside crap

Yep.

Give me a 3 day test with 40 wickets over that rubbish any day of the week.

Was more entertaining that the slogathon on Monday night.

OK what are they doing how can we counteract this tactic, who has the mindset to outlast the other opponent with these tactics and response to them

It is what makes test cricket great.

Couldnt take my eyes off it, was spewing when the rain came.

It's why test cricket is: "Art in motion" "Outdoors chess" "the Thinking mans sports"
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I 100% agree with that concept for test cricket provided there is even the slightest hint of a contest between bat and ball.

imo always would prefer a pitch slightly favored to the bowlers than the batsmen. Problem with the sub continent pitches in recent times is that its an absolutely no contest for 3-4 days and then the 5th day is almost unplayable.

Probably needs some of your first line to combat your second line, hold back, turn your body and hit the ball hard at the keeper when it is exceptionally wide down the leg side.

That display wasn't a thinking man's game, it was like chasing a King around with Knight and a King.

Agreed. Ok, what do you do now. I do believe the umpire had a word after the defensive line persisted a bit too long for his liking.

What would Australia be eyeing for a 1st innings score? 500+ ?

Bowling last should help.

If the clouds clear, it will allow the sun to start baking the pitch which will change the dynamic of the Test.
