Excuse my ignorance, Lawford and Barnes in the West - can someone help me out who they are. Obviously i don't know some of the rookies, but guessing younger lads.

Smith, James and Lehmann, Jake in the western team - reasoning please. This is on the basis that my info of Smith being a Kensi player this year.

No Richardson, no Haberfield - help me please.

Maintain my stance, 4 teams playing State trials, big warning to Grade clubs to get their "s..t" together.

Rumour - two western suburbs teams in merger talks with SACA, think SANFL and you will be on the money.

Barnesey ex Woodville now Adelaide about 22.
I think Lawford is from Victoria.

Some players were moved from their zones to get games.
Barrett the keeper from Southern would have been competeing with Carey so got moved to Western.

Outbacks into the PL to cover the 2 day games that PNG won't play is what I am hearing.

Initially floated by all reports but looks like will now just be apart of the T20 bash that will be taking place.

What is the point of this comp playing T20's - what a joke.

Isnt the concept to produce better longer form cricketers to represent the state. Big Bash T20 is a hit and giggle comp now, has nothing to do with state representation and full of imports.

This comp is purely to justify one SACA staff members job.....

Well if they do what Brisbane Heat do and leave one spot open on their list for the strikers you may find a player you didnt really know you had perhaps a matt weaver type FS. My mail is it will be over one weekend friday, saturday and sunday if it takes place

FS, come on, you are a lateral thinker. In the week prior to BBL, the 4 SA teams compete in a round robin T20 competition, with Strikers players playing, ideal warm up to the "money maker" on the cricket calendar. Perhaps ID the missing star in this type of competition, who knows they could even play a double header at Perti and play in front of 2,000 people instead of mum and dad at the home of Premier League - Park 25 - am told this won't happen because all PL games will be played on SACA controlled ovals. So much for promoting cricket in SA, I refer to your last line.

Sad if true, one of the tough competitors in Grade Cricket on the field. IMO he was also harshly treated by the establishment at SACA in his prime. At least WA gave him a 2 year crack. Would think his PL ambitions are tailored around his business and the fact he does not want to ruffle feathers in the establishment in SACA. Notice he is listed as Assistant Coach for True Grit team.

Did you expect anything different mate?

They only have 1 shot at this succeeding, if the players dont see any value after this year they will head back to their grade clubs.

Good looking squads. Good coaches too. Nice to see some of those rookies in there. Will be good for them to be around these sort of players.

Any sort of program been released yet?

Will be interesting seeing the grade cricket teams that are selected any weekends where the PL players are unavailable. And the impact this has down the grades. Will the grade comp have T20's or one dayers in the weeks that the best players are playing premier league? Would be sensible, so probably no.

Only 2 Saturdays will be effected from the Grade program I believe.

Anyway, I hope everything is being done to improve our batting at the longer form of the game. Not sure why they would even bother with T20 or 50 over games in this competition.

Apparently Cricket Australia will release a statement tomorrow, indicating the formation of a National Premier League. In a statement prepared today James Sutherland said "it is obvious that our state system, ie shield cricket, does not fill the requirements to prepare a player for the next step, ie Test Cricket, so from season 13/14, we will be introducing a 2 team premier league and you states can go stuff yourself".
