Joe Dawes, who I think is doing a great job with our fast bowlers (wonder if he could be a batting coach too ;) ) will leave the Redbacks after one season to take up the role as Indias bowling coach.

Playing against Andrew hilditch in lawn bowls tonight. He looks physically retarted as well as being a no hope selector.

So our top four bowlers are set, just need some batsmen to go along with it. The only problem is that apart from Sayers, we have three genuine number 11's. So the top order needs to do something...

Smith opens with Stray until Christian is back, and then:

1. Stray (similar to Head, the experience will hold him in good stead for next year)
2. Michael Klinger (Similair to Crosthwaite, no-one's threatening him, even though he's not doing much)
3. Tom Cooper (our only consistent batsman)
4. Callum Ferguson (even if he's scoring in the second dig only, he's scoring something)
5. Travis Head (will do him the world of good to have the rest of the year in the Shield team, showed something in the 2nd innings)
6. Dan Christian (when he's back from Australian duties)
7. Adam Crosthwaite (until Davey kicks the door down with runs, Cross is our best option.
8. Chadd Sayers
9. Gary Putland (when fit, Tietjens, O'Brien or Richardson until then)
10. Joe Mennie
11. Peter George

Chuck some talented kids in for the rest of the season and let results be redundant. We're going nowhere this season and we need to work out who will be lining up next season for us.

I think Davey is ready. Made 98 in the 2nd XI and has made consistent runs for TTG over the last 3 or 4 years. Anything is better than Crosthwaite and Ludeman.

At this stage my only concern would be having too many inexperienced kids in at once (Stray, Head, Tietjens, Sayers), at least need a couple of guys who have been around the tracks for a while.

Otherwise:

Stray
Thornton
Cooper
Head
Dougall
K Smith
Davey
Sayers
Tietjens
Mennie
George

That will be fine in around 2017, we gotta see it out til then though, Ferg can't be missing out, a bit less pressure on Klinger and he'll get the form back.
Some decent kids in there though.

We play kids at the end of each season to prepare them for the future then don't play them the next season.

that's what I'm getting at Eags, it's all well and good to have a few young lads in there, but whether they are performing strongly or not, you need a few older heads.

That's where it falls down.
If we are giving up the rest of the year to blood kids, we can't keep them out next year at the expense of journeymen like Blizzard, who would be in and out of the team, or Edmonson, who would only be there a year.

Invest in them now, reap the rewards in a couple of seasons.
