Poms providing more comedic relief at the World Cup. From the reverse sweep in 1987 to two blokes standing watching the ball between them the Poms have got it all.

Wouldnt rule England out of the WC just yet.

Remember Pakistan in the 91/92? world up were bowled out for less than 100 in of there early WC games only to go on a win the tournament!

If they had Imran Khan and Wasim Akram playing for them I'd agree with you.

yeah i dont think England will win the cup BUT i think sometimes people get a bit carried away with teams early form in these major tournaments.

look at Aus in the WC in England lost to the pakis early and then went on to win it.

In the Soccer WC your Germany and Italy's always play poorly in there first couple of games only to still be there come Semi Final time.

Plenty of examples of this, it would have been nice to see them lose but despite their performance they are 1-0

The more i think about England though i think they have a side that should really go very well. They have argubly the best spin bowler in the world, if they get the right conditions Jimmy Anderson will be very dangerous. Then Broad and Collingwood tend to bowl well in those conditions.

I really like Pieterson opening up they have a solid opening pair.

Bell is quality in the middle order and can hit from ball one.

To me Trott is the batsmen that will kill them, he wastes to many balls and his strike rate never reaches its maxium until he gets out, putting pressure on other batsme throughout there innings. Alot like Clarke hey ;)

Yes but it also confirmed that on flat decks englands attack is pedestrian. When the ball aint moving anderson and co are ordinary

True, but I was more meaning that the line and length they bowl is consistently rubbish in one dayers.

Beefy's comment about "has the yorker been disallowed" is spot on. Bowling half trackers gets you nowhere in ODI's these days.

Sorry i get what u meant now.
Cant believe they persisted with short half trackers. They bowled 2 yorkers all day and got 2 wickets.
You must bowl full in ODI's, Beefy was spot on

You know what I really think........that all these assistant coaches have over analysed the situation and tried to make something up. Sometimes, if it aint broke, don't fix it.

Its a good change up delivery and effective, but only when you’ve bowled full and straight! Keep them guessing with change of pace(still full length) and then the change of pace and length at once. England didn’t do the basics first and it nearly bit them on the aSS.

The fielders weren’t concentrating, over throws, miss field, dropped catches and not aware of fielding restrictions (where they should be for each batsman). Botham etc were embarrassed watching that performance.

Maybe a silly question. Noticing tom cooper playing for the dutch last night.....seeing as the dutch are not a test playing nation does that make him eligible for australian test selection if ever he was good enough?

Correct. Playing for an associate country doesn't stop you from being selected for a full member country if you qualify for both countries (like Nannes played for Australia after playing for the Netherlands IIRC).

Thanks graham. would still be a thrill to be involved in a world cup regardless of which nation you represent imo.
