We needed that Katich/Hussey partnership to turn into a 150+ stand; such an uncharacteristic shot from the Kat. :(

Terrible batting by the Aussies, still over 70 away from the followon, this could well be over inside of 4 days

Stumps 8/156 having lost 6/53.

I am too depressed to type up the scorecard so here is the link

Yeah I'm not a big Clarke fan either, seems to bat a lot better at 3/250 than 3/50!

Some loose shots played thats for sure.. Brad Haddin needs to get a bit smarter with his shot selection, fine to pull everything when there's 600 on the board.
North is another interesting one, even in lead up games, gets 100 or nothing!

And if we're lucky ... 3 days.

I went to bed at 3/111 and woke up to 8/156. Words just fail me. How is it possible for an entire team to have a bad match? Several of our "players" should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for their pathetic efforts in this Test.

Australia still require another 6 runs to pass Strauss!!!! I am seriously disgusted in Australia at this point in time. Ponting should be as well, and I hope he is looking each and every one of them eyeball to eyeball and asking them why they think they deserve to wear the green baggy.

Now, how did the delaying tactics the Poms used last match work again...

this test is set for an interesting last three days. i hope we get another 60 runs and just dont make the follow on.. we can still win if we are 210 behind and the poms enforce the Follow on, but if the dont and make another 250 and we are 460 behind with two days to play we are in a little bit of strife. Hopefully it would be like what the South Africans did at the WACA.
if Australia drift out to 15 dollars and the poms do enforce the Folow on i might have a little dabble at those odds

Geez. How glad am I that the rain came in and the bed called. I hardly missed a ball of the first test, but last night looks like one worth missing.

I spose there's always a chance, but this Test looks dead to me.

Those 11.3 wicketless overs are gonna really hurt if we don't get saved by some lovely lovely rain.

STRAUSS 161
AUSTRALIA 8/156
Can Haurie/Sizzle and Hilfy get us to a first innings lead ...

FLINTOFF only 1 wicket but the pick of the bowlers
His allrounder citizenship allows EG to play 5 bowlers
Will be a big loss to EG in Tests when his good career finishes

Agreed, great call. Only a couple of our wickets were lost at the hands of good bowling, the others were thrown away. Soft dismissals, brain snaps (yes Kat I'm looking at you, you started it). Hughes was dismissed with a trash delivery. We can turn this around.

It is blue skies here today, not much hope of rain, but stranger things have happened. Rain is forecast for tomorrow and Monday. Hopefully the rain comes and stays for 2 days so we can salvage a draw. It's the first time I've ever wished for rain in this country.

Looks like Fox's hour long preview show before each days play has been cut to half an hour tonight because of the rugby so starts at 7pm.

What gets me with Clarke is he's for the most part just a front runner. Like you said when everyone else is making runs and things are going good he'll get runs but when we seriously need him to stand up in the middle order he rarely ever does. Tie him down early and he just ends up running himself out or playing a stupid shot.
