Bah, as excellent a second day as that was for us I still feel like we've got a hell of a fight on our hands. This RSA mob never says die and at 3/80 odd they're in the same position as we were at about this time. Hopefully unlike in the last series we can take wickets through that period leading up to the new ball being taken.

The crowd counter on the scoreboard is a handy thing. I would like to see that at Adelaide Oval.

how useless are the local broadcasters...ponting asked for a referral but was refused because the third umpire could not view the replay.

Why do I get the feeling we're about to see a record 9th wicket partnership?

i have not heard yet! be very interesting to see...
not sure how many overs left but would be around 25-30 ... chuck them in and have 3 down for 80 odd at stumps would be ideal.
what are others views? should we chuck em in>

Well done Hughes! Got off the mark with a boundary which looks to have calmed him a bit. Tough conditions to play your first test in though, especially at 20 years of age!

Aus 0/18

Hughes 15*
Katich 1

And the commentators bagging him after a couple of excellent shaping deliveries from Steyn. Apparently it's cause for concern that an opening batsman looks uncomfortable when the ball is in that danger area  . He's a young kid ffs, playing his first test against arguably the best bowler in the world. Perhaps they should watch another replay of their home side's capitulation in the first innings before they jump on a 20 year old debutant's back.

Katich gone for 10, an edge off a climbing ball from Morkel, through to Boucher and we're 1/38 (a lead of 284).

Maybe I'm extremely ignorant, but we don't boo opposition players when they come down the race in Australia do we (aside from Harby)? Punter has really copped it on his way out.
