Who's complaining, I'm just pointing out that whenever a batsman gets 1 or 2 bad calls, all the commentators carry on like he's the unluckiest SOB who ever walked the face of the earth, but they say nothing about good fortune when a batsman gets dropped. What about the luck McGrath has had today? Batsman have played and missed at him all day.

AH has there ever been a batsman in the history of the game given out
3 consequetive times :?: when clearly not out.
That is bad luck, not getting dropped in one individual innings.

I was caught behind twice of the pad in 2 innings in a row when I was a teenager both
in my first 2 A grade games at a club, and then lost my spot.
Didnt matter to me as I continued to pay the $5 ball fees in B grade, but
for a guy like Strauss it could precipitate a loss of form, get dropped and
ultimately cost him approimately a million $$$$ contract.

That's the luck of the game. What about the luck Pietersen just had? Should have been on his way after a stupid shot but he's still there.

5/123

The way Read played the 1st ball from Warne, you can see why selectors consider Jones a better batsman :)

Read was a blast from the past. Another batsman who had absolutely no idea against Warne.

6/135.

WGLS took 5/39
To think we will only see him bowl for another 2-3 innings
Why retire ?
Did we see the WGF Symmonds take that catch of Plonkerson[would have
been a 6 on a pommie ground ho ho  ]
The Read experiment worked he made 3 more runs than Jones did last test
What about the shot of the day Hoggards hook for 4 of ooh ahh. :!:

EG all out 159

WARNE 5/39 a champion again
OOH AHH 1/37 no luck at all
CLARK 2/27 worlds greatest bowler of the last 12 months
ROY O/17 whata fieldsman, also stiff
LEE 2/36 much better effort

We have an hour to bat, on this pitch Hoggard/Flintoff/Harmison/Mahmood/Panesar
might be a handful.

Hands up all those who thought Langer batted like a lunatic?

More stupid captaincy from Ponting .. the night watchman which NEVER works, has failed again. Now Australia have sacrificed a valuable lower order batsman, and Gilchrist is now batting at 8. Stupidity.

I HATE night watchmen!!!!

AU 2/44 STUMPS

LANGER 27 batted like a lunatic
LEE 0 1st ball, nightwatchman mistake?

Fiery Freddy Flintoff with 2 late wickets has given England a sniff.
The great bowler but average batsman has responded.

Today would have given Strauss the absolute shits
Given out wrongfully in his previous 3 digs before todays lone hand of 50
he was out to a perler from the WGLS Warnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnney.
Anyhow Andrew comes out in the final hour and saw opposition opener
Matthew LUCKY Hayden given not out twice LBW off the unlucky Hoggard.
Both LBWs were plumb.

I barrack for Australia ernestly but the luck of umpiring decisions in
favour of Australia in this country is very lopsided, we have been fortunate particularly
in the last 10 years.
Today was even Clark and Roy were stiff with a couple of LBWs
But then again EG has taken 8 less wickets than Australia.

Today the WGLS got 5/39 what a bowler.

Not what dizzy reckons.

Langer batted great in my book, took it too them, took a chance and we are 2-48 at stumps - with 1 of those brett lee, would rather be that than 1-10 with the aussies not making a dent into the english score...

Forgive Gilchrist for the dropped catch, but not for the missed stumping...

So you pick out 1 time it succeeded as opposed to the mutlitude of times it had failed and deduce it's a good tactic? As for Langer's batting, someone should have told him ito's a FIVE DAY TEST, not a 20/20 match.

In any other area of sport, if a tactic continued to fail, eventually they would stop using it, but the night watchman has been a failure for 100 years and for some reason captains still think it's a pretty cool idea. :?:

Australian batsmen play attacking cricket = best team in the world last 12 years
West Indies batsmen played attacking cricket in 80s+90s = best in world.

Yes both teams had unbelievably good bowling attacks, but why not
attack and give those attacks more time to bowl the opposition out.

Worth noting that 2 batsman who attacked our bowlers in the last decade
are Pieterson + Lara + have been 2 of our best opponents.

Langer has been batting quickly for several years successfully, good thinking
