A lot of people, mainly channel 9 commentators critisied the pitch for being to batter friendly but when they interviewed Les Burdett early in the test he said, he creates a pitch in the attempet to get a result in the last session of the 5th day. Well Done for another great test match wicket.

You would not say that if Australia lost batting last on a disintigrated pitch.
My bitch is that its a big advantage to bat first and a big disadvantage to bat last.

day one 3/266
day five 13/198
I rest my case

It still would have been a great finish to watch even if England won, and as i said else where Les Burdett was interviewed by channel 9 early in the test and he said when producing a pitch his aim is to get a result in the last session on the fifth day, that was achieved.

30 wickets in about 445 overs.
15 years ago tests were played to about 400 overs.
Those extra 50 overs get Burdetts 5th day finishes not his pitches.
If this game went 400 overs Australia would not have had a 2nd innings.

Australia has played 10 tests in 2006
10 games
10 wins
No draws

Having to bowl 90 overs a day is the barometer.

So true, all other formats are bastardised formats of the great game. Test cricket is the true judge of how good a player is.

Cricket = Test Cricket.

Pure, unadulterated cricket.

What a fantastic test. I may be biaised but we have a good one every year. And another test gone to five days (albeit the last couple went to lunch-ish). As to the Day 1 batting, it gave me an excuse to get shitfaced. Another highlight on Day 4 was to travel over to the hill and stand with the poms at tea. We found a few that could still speak their native tongue. Day 5 was pure gold.
