And Pope and Thornton.

Pope more so than Thornton.

The way the final is worked with points to encourage teams trying to win Pope is a liability.

Since the 2018–19 summer, in the event of a draw or tie, the team which scores more first innings bonus points, based on the system used in regular season matches, wins the Shield

Bonus batting .01 for every run above 200 in the first 100 overs of the first innings of each team
Bonus bowling 0.1 for taking each wicket in the first 100 overs of the first innings of each team
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

That’s true but I get the feeling we are going to have to take 20 wickets to win this. I cannot see this going down to a draw:first innings points but rather an outright result

Probably the first morning is the only time there will be any seam on the pitch

Might slow their scoring in the first part of their 100 overs

I agree, and on Day 5 you'd think Pope would have become a factor after a few warm days coming, pitch will be very dry come Sunday.

All pointless now though, just need to bowl well 1st hour then bat well.. although don't forget only a week ago this pitch yielded 1200 runs for 22 wickets.

Pope, Thornton and Nielsen all unlucky I think. But when was the last time three blokes were unlucky to miss out for the SACAs?
