if it was a tap on the shoulder, the selectors should be sacked immediately.

Everyone's favourite, doubt there would be anyone to say a bad word about him.
Fantastic batsman, great gully fieldsman.
Was expecting him to play through to the end of the next Australian summer, but it's the old cliche, better people asking "why are you" rather than "why don't you".
Could he be the next one in the Channel 9 box?

Genuine shock, cant believe the carrot of 2 Ashes Series to finish his career wasnt enough to stick around but cant blame him wanting to spend more time with his young family and certainly dont want him in the team if he doesnt want to be there deep down.

We are stuffed for the Ashes, experience is what we need, if Haddin can produce some runs over the next 2 months I wouldnt be against him playing as a batsmen to play a similar role to Hussey down the order. If we take a young developing team to England we wont be competitive IMO.

Would have come as a massive shock to the selectors and has now left us with a massive hole in the batting order.

Unfortunatly we dont have the luxury anymore to call apon a Brad Hodge type who is dominating domestic cricket like previous years.

Most obvious replacment is Usman, who i think has a long test career a head of him.

Would seeing the ex-skip go out as a shell of his former self have played a part?

All players have peaks and troughs, it's pretty much inevitable .. At his age, your next trough would signal the end. Fair decision by Mr Cricket IMHO

Just watched his press conference and can now understand why. He had enough of being away on tour and missing his family. Had decided prior to summer that this would be his last and even his outstanding performances couldn't sway him to change his mind.

I reckon we may not have lost the Ashes in 2005 if he was introduced then. It was fairly obvious to most that he was ready and most were asking for his selection before that series.

Has made an incredible contribution. All class - well done M. Hussey.

One word.....3 letters starting with a G and ending in N on and off the field.
But he will be replaced with another leftie who will play, and, may captain in a lot of test matches.
Gotta love his pressie regarding his replacement being his brother? Gold!!!

Had the good fortune of meeting Mike a couple of years ago. Top 10 bloke. Has more time than a swatch and is as genuine as the leather in a Clarks shoe. I'd bang him if I thought it was worthwhile.
