good double from klinger with 60 odd in each dig but at 32 hardly the future of australian cricket

johnson starred with the ball in the first dig but back to normal with 1/75 off 11 in the second, **** him off please!

lyon match figures 3/163, nothing to write home about, not much else apart from cowans 99

Bairstow's hundred against Australia's 92nd XI got him back in the Test side.

Honestly, WTF is the deal with being a 2nd XI? Surely Cowan, Hughes, Johnson & Lyon have had enough test match exposure to be not considered for these fixture's, give the untried more opportunities.

Serious question.

How many of the players sent home, particularly seam bowlers with injuries, have had a decent crack at international cricket?

I agree with the issue on Cowan and Lyon, if we had a Test match tomorrow they'd both be in it, but you want to see where a Johnson type is at, and Hughes only got subbed in due to injuries (he was playing with Worcs over there anyway).

IIRC Cutting got sent home, he was bloody close to a debut last summer, so you want to see how he's tracking, but when the injuries take their toll, there's only so many options.

Not a lot of wickets for Lyon which is a problem. Pakistan showed that the Poms are suspectible to spin bowling so I was hoping Lyon would have more of an impact on this tour. I don't have a lot of faith in Hilf, Siddle and especially Mitch Johnson (pick him and kiss the Ashes goodbye) dismissing the Poms. We need Lyono up and about to win the Ashes.

It also wouldn't hurt for our bowling coach to have a good ol Captain Cook at the succesful bowling plans used by South Africa against Trott and Cook in particular.

Hahaha, nice video. Cook seemed to be Stuart Clarks bunny, got him six times in that video. Pretty much all the deliverys he was dismissed by were a reasonably full length, wide outside off stump with the angle taking the ball away from him, sucking him into reaching for it and making him drive away from his body just enough to cause the mistake.

I remember when Stuart Clark was commentating for Fox Sports for a bit and he talked about how important the deliverys prior to a wicket ball were and how they set up a wicket so well. I'd say that prior to the delivery he got Cook with, he was bowling a little bit straighter to Cook for quite a while, may have conceded a boundary and a few runs but stuck to his plan, bowled the slightly wider one which was good enough to get the edge and therefore got the wicket.

Thats the thing though.

During the most recent ashes series in Aus, Cook wasnt having a bar of anything wide of off stump, and our bowlers fell into the trap of bowling straight and Cook fed off deliveries pitched on his pads.

Mind you with Mitch bowling in more directions than a ******* compass its hard to put pressure on the batsman :(
