Michael Beer... I've bashed him on here as much as the next bloke, but having said all the garbage about him (and I'm getting this in before he bowls):

When he got his shock Test cap, it was while we were still searching for a genuine replacement for Warney, and the great man himself plucked the balding bloke from five first class games of obscurity, and said he had the tools to be a Test player.
Thrashed about in his first Test, and we've happily found Nathan Lyon as our number one spinner.

While Lyon has been holding his head admirably above water, Beer has been playing domestic cricket, and has been eking out the deserved status of our second best spinner.
Not a Test quality spinner, not a future 300 Test wicket taker, but right at this point, our countries number two.

He has done this not because of Warney pumping his tyres, but through solid performances at domestic level.

Now that he's a little bit older than five first class matches, I would like to see how he goes, and won't think of him as the guy who got pasted on debut.

Good luck the man with the awesome surname!

Shane Watson
Another start another disMissAL when he was set
56 is a good score, but only 2 centuries in about 60 digs is a big concern

Ricky Ponting
Another failure
My observations,
He still hazit on flat decks
But on decks that have some give , he continues to struggle
I want the champ to score heavily , but not that confident he can still do it

Ed Cowan
A nothing type Test player
Batting to his ability at this stage
Hope he blossoms, but Im doubting he will at this level

The batting line up on cricket.com.au
8 BEER
9 HILFENHAUS
10 LYON
11 PATTINSON

Surely its
PATTINSON
HILF
LYON

When Sammy shines the ball he is constantly rubbing it against the compression bandage thing on his arm, surely that being rougher than his pants is doing more damage to the ball

Not watching but assuming he is roughing up one more side in hope of early reverse swing?

Australia all out 311
Hussey and Pattinson had a decent partnership but not a lot from the others.

Over 3.3
Hilfy gets Brathwaite LBW, is reviewed and is just clipping leg stump, decision stands.

WI 1/16
9 overs in and Hilfy dragged.
Lyon comes on, spin at both ends.
Cant agree with this, Hilfy looked good and Patto is a proven wicket taker.
