To get a player of this ability is a step in the right direction
I can just see next season
When he plays poorly, a brigade of critics will surface and post
When he performs , the same critics will be missing in action
You know the usual
SA is getting the services of an International cricketer
We are getting a very good player, not a player who struggles to make another Domestic State team

Can the bloke bat? ... well, can get runs every now and again but don't rely on him. Can he get a game on his batting alone ... nope.
Can the bloke field ... next question.
He's 29 and has played 5 tests, 69 ODIs and 67 first glass matches ...
Averages 34 with the bat and 32 with the ball in first class matches.
Has been officially reported twice for an illegal action in tests. On official testing of his action, all deliveries were deemed illegal as being over the 15 degree extension (a rule brought in by a piss weak ICC to allow Murali to continue playing), with his doosra found to be a whopping 26.7 degrees.
Why are we flying this average cricketer who's washed up at 29 half way around the world to lead our Shield side?
Faarked if I know ...

FFS how about concentrating on our weaknesses?

Nope, believe he wasn't offered a contract along with Crossthwaite, OB and Theo.
Might be a couple others aswell and one might be a surprise
