No it wasn't his. I don't own any of his books.

I'm thinking it was either Boof's or Gilly's

how so, do you want the scorecards manipulated to show him scoring runs? he has been given enough hints that its time to leave the game but he hasnt taken them

Warner?

Why not let him play out the series as a fairwell?

before the weekend? Warner made a ODI 100 in the last 12 months?

They gave S Marsh more chances FFS.

Look how they handled the Haddin/Wade fiasco, how can anyone trust them?

He sums it up simply IMO:

"My form over the last five games hasn't warranted my selection in the team."

"If I'd have scored runs in these five games, obviously I wouldn't have been dropped."

Current series average:

R Ponting - 3.6

Warner 324 runs.

Ponting 13,200 runs.

Ponting has been dismal this series, but who's to say he wouldn't have turned it around just like his test form?? I think he's burnt out and needed this series off to rest and recharge the batteries, NOT BE DROPPED and treat our greatest ODI batsman of all time with such disrespect.

Hold on a second, the man himself said his own form hasn't been good enough to be selected.
Why posters disregard his sentiments is beyond me.

Will not be at the next World Cup, smart move moving him on from ODIs.

Should not be at the next Ashes series, hopefully form in the Caribbean warrants selection for our test series in Australia for the farewell tour that would have been 12 months overdue.

Au revoir R T Ponting

Without knowing the facts from
behind the scene no one can say he's been treated unfairly.
For all we know he could of been warned 12 months ago one bad series and he'll be dropped, he might of been begged to retire on his own accord for public interest but refused.
Shame he couldn't replicate his test series form but that's cricket.

All bullshit aside, at his age he should concentrate on one form of the game, he rejuvenated his test batting, he could prolong his career this way.
I was glad to see him bounce back but I would prefer that he bow out gracefully in similar fashion to Gilly, Warney and McGrath, nothing worse that seeing a legend try to eek every last run out of themselves, I thought Tubby Taylor stuck around too long, he did get his 334* late in his career but runs were few and far between for quite some time.

I havent got the schedule in front of me but I believe from October there is a huge test load right up to the ashes, going to be ahrd to drop him prior if form is good.
