I'd love to see Warner get a go. IMO he's worked harder on his technique than has Hughes.

Agree
After being told he wouldnt get a game for NSW in the longer games he could have taken the easy option and moved to SA or another state but he stuck it out and has worked his butt off. He has altered his technique and is starting to reap the rewards. Hughes on the other hand will still be getting dismissed the same way in 10 years time.
Get Warner in for Brisbane test

Warner's form in the longer version game has been excellent over the past twelve months, I still shudder to think they could be opening together then Khwaja at 3, could be 3 for bugger all very easily.

Not much differance to now then ;)
Due to injuries someone has to come in, Warner is in form.
Heard last night that Watto, Marsh, Harris and Johnson all probably will miss 1st test

LOL.

Probably a good thing then, having to make some forced changes gives the incoming player a different perspective on things.
Opposed to being told "here is your chance, don't blow it" they don't have as much pressure on them as they think oh well, I'm filling in for a game, I hope I do well, less weight of expectation on them seems to have been key to our newcomers success in recent times.
Marsh, Cummins then Khwaja, he batted better knowing he was baby-sitting number 3 than what he did when he thought he had number 3.

Without the 4 mentioned I'd like to see this line up:

Hughes
Warner
Khawaja
Ponting***
Clarke
Hussey***
Haddin***
Cutting
Siddle
Cummings
Lyon

I think we need to start phasing out the 3 highlighted players, there's enough players scoring well in the Sheffield Shield to start bleeding them in with some player rotation.
I can only see positives in bringing in Mitch Marsh sooner rather than later, given that he is competent with both disciplines he can add a fair bit to our team.
If we act now we'll be up near the top in 3 or 4 years and then we'll have the youth to stay there for a while.

If everyone was fit an i was the chief selector i would be going with....

1. WATO
2. MARSH
3. PUNTER
4. PUP
5. HUSS
6. UZI
7. PAINE
8. HARRIS
9. CUMMO
10. CUTTING
11. LYON
12th ME

However im certain they will play Hughes and not Marsh and Johnno b4 both Harris/Cutting or Mitchs Mum will get the sh*ts  . They are also much more likely to pick Steve Smith as 12th man ahead of me as he was in the test team for a while as a specialist fielder it seemed ;)

I like that team LM. Im probably taking Pattinson over Cutting just. Youre right about Ponting, Hussey and Haddin. Watto comes in at Ponting's expense and bats in middle order. Hussey goes out for Mitch Marsh, he will be a star. We have to fast track these kids, just imagine if the selectors had gone with Copeland or Bollinger instead of Cummins in South Africa

I'm not sure how many will agree but I'd love to see Warner bat down at 6 to start with providing he plays. Could come in play his shots and kill off the bowling later on in a day to score quick runs

Id prefer him to do a Slater or Sehwag and have us on 40 after 5 overs and knock the ball out of shape. Watto can bat at 6 and tee off

I know we could be 3 for bugger all with Hughes/Warner/Khawaja....

But imagine if we were 0 down at lunch.... We'd be on 150!!!! And against a pop gun attack like New Zealand its plausible!

Would love to see Warner come in, people are worried about him throwing his wicket early and what not, but as stated above, who cares we can't really do any worse than we have been lately.

Johnson needs to be dropped for whoever and would LIKE to see Haddin be dropped for Wade but won't happen just yet, bit worried he may have a decent series against New Zealand then be selected for the Indian series and then play like sh1t again. Hope the selectors reliase that New Zealand are POO and India are much much better and any GOOD performances against New Zealand shouldn't guarentee you a spot against India, but doubt that will happen.....

Could be named as late as Sunday.
Pat Cummins has a bruised heel and is in some doubt so they are delaying naming squad until they see if he pulls up.
