2013 Who ?

Exactly right there, as I said before ferguson needs runs. He has done nothing to justify a position in the test side. Im not sure why he keeps getting on everybodys list. He has made SFA shield runs at the moment, just not good enough. Khawaja, Harris (WA) and Maddinson are all well and truely in front of him.

In all honesty we should be talking about if Fergy can keep his spot in the SA side, rather than him reaching for higher honours. (in the long form of the game)

I see everyone still wants Watson as opener. I reckon we should play him in the middle order because we need the guy to bowl. At the moment he's been asked to do to much and this is why he is suffering a mini slump at the moment. Never mind 2013 Ponting, Hughes, Haddin and Johnson should be gone now. We needed new blood so what did we do? We got rid of the best opening bat in the country and kept a guy who is living on past glories and we've made Haddin a fixture in the side for some unknown reason.

We can stay at four or five with these old blokes or start from four or five without them.

Maddison
Warner
Marsh
Clarke
Khawaja
Hussey
Wade
O'Keefe
Harris
Siddle
Cummins

I'd have Paine ahead of Wade normaly but Paine is injured. Hopefully Marshy is OK but seriously how bad do we have to be before we sharpen the axe? Also, I think we should hand out 'Test contracts' that pay quite well which keep our identified test XI out of teeball. Less injuries and less ridiculously bad batting collapses. When are the money grabbing **** at CA going to recognise the damage teeball is causing the game. The bad decisions we are making are more shattering to me than the bad cricket. Simply astonishing.

REB

Except I left out Watson. He should stay in the side but I'd move him down the order. Probably Watto at the expense of Marsh but there appear to be no stand outs for number three. Bring back the Kat I say! They got rid of the wrong old guy.

By 2013 i think Hussey will probably be gone. Watto at 6 is great, he would murder the old ball. Watto's bowling is super important to us, we cant expect him to bowl long spells and then open the batting

19 matches
30 wickets
22.86 average
3/22 BB
5.03 Econ
27.2 sr

The only small things that let him down are that he hasnt got a BAG and leaks runs a bit...but overall pretty good

And Pat Cummins is apparently going to lead the Australian pace attack for the next decade, with five wickets in five ODD games...

Unfortunately Callum Ferguson Isn't good enough for test cricket IMO. Definately One day and T20.

First-class
Matches 58
Innings 107
HS 132
Career 100's 6 (thats 1 in every 18)
Career Average 34.98

This year
Average 16.6
HS 26

Fergy needs to turn the 50's to 100's more often. When he played for Australia hes a better player than his FC form would suggest.

It doesnt seem that long ago when if you hadnt backed up a min of 3-5 big years of runs u were laughed at. Im thinking -Siddons, Lehmann, Love, Maher, Hodge, M Hussey, DiVenuto, Cox and Jacques (some obviously did eventually break in)...Now we talk up blokes who ave low 30's... I bet if Jason Hamburger and Martin Faull were still playing as they'd almost be on field in Cape Town!

If CA had some balls the next batch of young Australian batsmen should be banned from playing any level of T20 cricket and make them graft out big innings over the next 2 summers and prove their ability to bat for extended periods of time.

Other than Watson, Clarke and Hussey non of our current crop know what it is like to bat for more than 2 sessions.

REB, another who is critical of the T20 format and I both predicted that T20 would impact upon the long form of the game and our players playing it. I dont think either of us thought it would be this quickly, sadly.

All well and good and I agree, but how does it explain Haddin who was around before T20 kicked in? The blame can't rest entirely with T20, the players need to knuckle down and simply play Test cricket, if they can't, piss them off!!
Hi, My name is Ron 'Bluey' Dunn. Did you know I played in the 61 & 62 Tasman Premiership sides....

As mentioned above, Haddin has always had a penchant for throwing his wicket away in all forms of the game.

The time is right to get Tim Paine into the Test arena and move Haddin on. Paine then must be left out of any T20 games to concentrate on the longer form of the game.

Paine is injured and wont be ready for a while, think he will miss pretty much the who domestic season (could be wrong on that). Wade is next in line! I like Tim and rate him well above Wade......

Haddin has always played the same way, his 100s are some of the best to watch! Unfortunately he hasnt been in good form for a while now!
