Mervyn Westfield, the first player in English cricket to be found guilty of spot fixing, was given a four-month prison term at the Old Bailey on a day when the Pakistan international, Danish Kaneria, was named as the alleged go-between who had also approached other players about fixing.

Salman Butt, the former Pakistan captain who was convicted of spot-fixing, is travelling back to Pakistan after being released from prison seven months into his 30 month sentence, his lawyers have confirmed.

Butt's release under the government's early release scheme for foreign nationals means he has been formally deported from the UK and cannot return for 10 years. He is due to arrive back in Pakistan late on Thursday.

Surely we can set up Mitchell Johnson on some match fixing charge... would be great if he got put away for a season, just to make sure the selectors keep the faith in the youngsters.

If people are dumb enough to take bets/bet on sports they do so at their own risk.

And if somone is in a position to pull up and make some money out of it then good on them.

It should be open slather
