The best of a bad lot there Dutchy, he'll probably do a Krezja and get hailed a legend. At least he's probably in the best conditions in the world to execute his craft, I'd think he'll play in the first test.

thought that it was quite obvious that we are struggling in the spin department after the touch up we got in the recent ashes series, quite simply there is no-one of any quality around and lyon does have potential, just hope they give him a decent go and let him mature as a test bowler

Why give Hauritz a million dollar contract when you're going to pick a guy like Beer over him?

Can you imagine the headline if CA made Michael Beer a millionaire overnight?

AUSTRALIAN cricket has descended into chaos after players sucking up millions of dollars were overlooked for bolters Nathan Lyon and Trent Copeland.

Uncontracted spinners Michael Beer and Lyon and NSW seamer Copeland are part of a 15-man squad to tour Sri Lanka for three Tests from late next month.

While Simon Katich, Australia's best performed player over the past three years, was unceremoniously dumped from the Cricket Australia contract list last month, many who were retained have been ignored.

Most exciting squad I've seen in a long, long time!! Not sure about the spinners, but probably just about all we got before going back to rejects Haurtitz and Krejza, so I say well done Chappell!

My team:

1. Watson
2. Hughes
3. Ponting
4. Hussey
5. Clarke
6. Khawaja
7. Haddin
8. Johnson (he's useless)
9. Harris
10. Copeland
11. Lyon

I'd prefer Khawaja at 3 and Punter at 6, but I guess you can make the switch if Punter shows no signs of form at 3. Really exciting to see Punter in his first test series without the captaincy.

Lasith Malinga, the Sri Lanka fast bowler, has not been picked for the national team's two-match Twenty20 series against Australia, starting August 6 in Pallekele, due to an injury. Malinga was named in the list of 20 probables for the home series, but was left out of the Twenty20s to get back to fitness for the five-match ODI series starting on August 10. Sri Lanka have drafted in uncapped allrounder Shaminda Eranga while Angelo Mathews takes over as vice-captain following the axing of Thilina Kandamby.

Sri Lanka squad: Tillakaratne Dilshan (capt), Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews (vice-capt), Jeevan Mendis, Dilruwan Perera, Thisara Perera, Dhammika Prasad, Suranga Lakmal, Ajantha Mendis, Nuwan Kulasekara, Suraj Randiv, Rangana Herath, Chamara Silva, Shaminda Eranga
