latest update from the Yahoo World Cup website

1800 IST - Nothing much has changed in the last half-an-hour. The rain is still falling heavily, though it has just relented a bit and the skies have cleared up a touch. But, there is lightning in the sky. We are already past the extra allotted time for a day-night game, meaning that it will be a curtailed match. 2119 IST is the cut-off time for the second innings to start. Stay tuned for updates.

However, with the previous commentary piece advising there's 'lakes' all over the ground in Columbo, I can't see this game restarting to be honest.

if another ball gets bowled it will heavily favor the 2nd batting side. That ground is a river and good luck gripping the ball to spin it. As much as Tubby talked Sri Lankas effort up in all fairness they were going along @ just over 4 an over. if they had another 30-40 runs at the time i'd suggest Australia were shot.
Make no mistake yes the pitch was slowish and spun.........but it was no green top. Ausralia were very much even money (at worst).

Still drizzling. Even if it stops they anticipate it'll take another hour for the ground to be ready and the cut off time is just under 2 hours. Can not see this game resuming.

Interestingly three of the last 4 World Cup matches between Australia and Sri Lanka have been affected by the weather (2007 final and 2003 semi final).
