Bit of an indictment on all those spin bowlers that have had the best coaching and 5 years of preparation and the batsmen who bowl a little bit of spin are better bowlers!

All out pace doesn't look like the best option, but what choice do we have? And is it any wonder we can't play spin particularly well anymore with nobody to practice against? Good to see Ponting get another decent hit though. But I fear without a strong start to these games with both bat and ball we'll get chewed up against quality sides in the middle overs.

Smith 65 (81) ret out
Amla 60 (76) ret out

South Africa won by 7 wickets

Only 1 wicket taken by our bowlers, bit of a worry

Two batters retired, so really we lost by 9 wkts.

Dont think thats the case. Its not junior cricket. Unless you retire hurt you are given out. Those two batsmen wouldnt have been allowed to resume had the saffers lost a heap of quick wickets.
Thats my understanding, could be wrong though

Like Locky said, you are correct Jim.

When you think about it though, again like Locky said, the new batsman comes out knowing that the retiring batsman is gone, out, technically a dismissal on their LIST A stats.

If they aren't treating that like the loss of a wicket, then there is no point to a practise match...

How exactly do they bat after that good partnership is broken?

Do they consolidate or go on the attack...?

Treated technically, a seven wicket win... In reality, we bowled those overs for taking one wicket.

Dismal, but happy Punter made a couple of scores in the warm ups, which he definitely treated like real cricket.
