Despite being born in Barking, Essex (I got that in before Sam did), it's another great traditional English name that's made county headlines.

The only topic getting touched on here is the redevelopment one, so...

County season is off and running, and no-one quite made the "thousand runs before May", as used to be an impressive feat, despite Warwickshire's Chopra hitting back to back double hundreds... He's still the only player over 500 runs (527), and Will Jefferson (Leics), Ian Blackwell, Dale Benkenstein (both Durham), and Alistair Cook (Essex), have both hit two centuries apiece.

New Zealand and Nottinghamshire's Andre Adams leads the bowling with 19 wickets...

Think you will find its before the end of May MP. So he has this month to score 500 runs and 4 first class games to do it.

For me I'm keeping a keen eye on Essex as I got to know one of their up and comers Jaik Mickelburgh when he spent our summer at my cricket club here in Adelaide. Whilst he had modest results down under he already has a first class hundred to his name this season

Shaun Tait has pulled out of his T20 stint with Surrey due to an elbow injury he got in the IPL.

Fox Sports look like they will be showing some of the T20 games with Hampshire vs Somerset on Thurs 3am and Durham vs Warwickshire at 2am Friday morning.

Former Zimbabwean Murray Goodwin, at the ripe old age of 38, scored 274* in a recent CC game.

Handy effort.
