APL. Sounds like a dogs breakfast, but a money spinner.

Really, you've got to embrace it.

What's the choice? You can accept it, head along for a few beers and have a good time. Or you can hate it, stay at home, whinge and moan about how it was "better in my day", and wax lyrical about the glory days of Warne and McGrath, or Lillee and Thompson, or whatever.

In the end, it's all reasonable entertainment if you go live. Pretty dull on tele though. Just think of it as T20, not cricket, and all's well!

I'll be heading in with my boy. I tap him on the shoulder when the ball's about to be bowled and he taps me when the Mexican wave comes around. Great fun.

If Jamie Cox and Mark Sorell have nothing to do with the Adelaide Franchise i might be interested in going. Actually, they should make it completely independent of all SACA cronies just to be safe. I'm just hoping we might get Ryan Harris, Cosgrove and Cleary back playing in Adelaide again which might reverse some of the massive damage done to South Australian cricket by the SACA hierachy over the last couple of years.

And i don't understand the view that if you don't embrace Twenty20 cricket you are just out of touch and old fashioned. When you had test/first class and one day cricket, every player could adjust and play both forms of the game effectively. Some were better suited to one than the other but they could play both. Twenty20 is creating a generation of players who can make a mountain of money from the game but will never have the talent or skill set to play at the top level (i.e. Dave Warner). If you can't play the longer form of the game, you're not a cricketer IMHO => if the game is played with a lot of these people then it ain't cricket! Rant over. :)

Couldn't agree more. T20 isn't cricket, it's T20.

I think you underestimate the amount of ability you have to have to actually compete against the best in the world, be it test, limited or T20. We all know Warner will not play test cricket, he struggles to get a game for the blue caps, but the amount of cricket ability needed to hit Tait into some of the places he has hit him is enormous. Whilst Test will remain my No. 1 form of watching cricket, you cannot underestimate the amount of interest the T20 has generated, not to mention the money it has / will bring into the game.

You average Grade Cricket would have no chance at all to do well against the big boys.

Private investors will be allowed to buy a 33% stake in eight city-based franchises that will form Australia's Big Bash League in 2011-12. Cricket Australia's board gave approval for the Twenty20 expansion in Melbourne today and the organisation will own and control the competition.

Reports this week said Indian corporations had already bought shares of around A$60m in some of the proposed franchises. However, Cricket Australia believes the value of the teams will rival the biggest sporting clubs in the country. The Brisbane Broncos rugby league team was priced at A$36m this year
