IMO Gayle was easily player of the series and was responisble for how tight it actually was. Although 2-0 the windies were on top in adelaide and some how got back into the match in perth.
On his captaincy yes it was confusing and at times didn't make sense, but with a young team that is inferior in talent you need to do this and hope that sometimes it comes off, remember Flemming and the Kiwis doing something similar a few years ago and was named by most as the best captain in world cricket for a period after it.
His two centuries are definately the two things I will remember from this series, not the countless aussie 80/90's that for one reason or another were not converted. And after scoring both he did handle himself with class and still acknowledged at every opportunity that his side was being outplayed and never made excuses for it. he clearly understands he has an important role in rebuilding windies cricket and wont accept honurable losses as satisfactory.
His support of the teams youngsters was also examplary. even when accepting the MOTM/ man of the series, he couldn't wait to talk about the efforts of Barath, Roach, Denorine etc... showing that he cares about his team and the experience that they were getting.
After the test mathces i can't wait until the one dayers in feb and how he performs in the big bash with the WACA. one of the great entertainers of world cricket

Won MOTM when Bollinger clearly deserved it.
Won MOTS when his side lost 2-0.
"Who is Bollinger, I've never heard of him?" "Hauritz is playing? Doesn't matter, it's like bowling to myself when he's on."
Yep, comments from a man of all class right there.
Bollinger? There is a man full of class

As for the comments, ever heard of an expereinced player from one team putting some mental pressure on young inexperienced players from the opposition?
Who was your man of the series drummond?

Here is another, how do you reckon an Australian batsmen would have reacted to what Gayle copped from Watto?

Sensational batting providing great test cricket and richly deserving of his man of the series award.
But apart from that I thought his leadership was super impressive, there is no doubt he has his team playing for him and he gets 100% from his young team. Not much went right for them during this tour starting with his own personal issues.
His interviews after this series were very measured and respectful. Overall the WI have one of the best Captians in the world and a young exciting team, I look forward to seeing their progress over the coming years.

Smashed him with the bat?
Lol what a stupid question, they would have done exactly what Mr. Perfect did.

Just refer back to the 1st hour after tea on day 4 of Adelaide test when this "great captain" basically shut up shop with plenty of wickets in hand and batted like it was day one until stumps..
Surely any reasonable captain who was dead set on winning would of had a crack with the bat setting the Aussies a similar score anyway and yet could of had an hour at them that night with the ball???
Mentality of "make sure we don't lose the test" rather that having a go at winning it..
Bit like some of those great captains the Poms used to have years ago.....
Anyway, this debate will be nothing soon, as he will chuck Test cricket in eventually and live off 20/20 millions...
Good luck to him too..
Great captain....Far from it......

geez how do your rate the Aussie side then Booney? It could be argued that WI had the better of the last 2 tests
