I see what you're saying RM, I just go back to my initial point that the whole idea is to eliminate the really bad decision .. the "Rudi Koertzen" as it were.

We've all seen them, the moment the umpire's finger goes up we think "Oh no, that's a shocker". The 3rd umpire and match referee would also have similar thoughts, so they would immediately signal to the umpires that they are reviewing the decision, and ask the batsman to hang around.

We saw one in the 1st Test where Johnson was given out. There was no white mark in hot spot, but still given out because there was no evidience to suggest he didn't hit it. Later angle shots showed he didn't. That to me means the system doesn't work as well as everyone was hoping it would.

Then watching Gayle standing his ground after the most plum LBW imaginable was too much for me. I simply do not like the system. It's another time wasting aggravation we don't need.

For the really close decisions, just let the two umpires in the middle make the call. Afterall, they are in the best position.

PUNTER
both use a referral each, and the quota is extinct

In comes Nathan Hauritz edges the ball onto his pad and is given out
The kids fishing at the River Torrens heard the edge, but the ump made a boo boo
Nathan has no right if appeal

As I said if it aint for all make it for **** all

fine lets have every decision bing able to challenged and lets sit down and watch 30 overs a day. peopel are still learning to use it properley so stop having a go at it

People are still learning :roll:

We have had an umpire going home on sick leave
We have had a cranky skipper
We have had players frustrated at when to or not to or being allowed to refer
We have had an Australian bowler fined for dissention over an LBW decision [when no more referals left ?}
Most importantly we have several posters on SAFOOTY venting thier frustrations

Thats in 2 Test matches ....
