4 bowlers is enough to win a test match, they just need to bowl reasonably well.

The decision to bowl North at the end was a mistake and Clarke and Katich bowled 13 overs out of 211 so hardly were over used. More of a lets try something different option.

The problem is not the amount of bowlers it is the quality of them, the only bowlers to impress have been Hilfenhaus and Hauritz so our key wicket takers are struggling. That is the problem.

Well said Pup. Siddle has shown a bit as well but has been inconsistent. We took 19 wickets in the first Test on a very placid track that the Poms could only manage 6 wickets on. Last Test we played poorly but it was our batting that was the problem. No need for knee jerk reactions though. 6/650 odd in the first Test suggests that the batting isn't that bad. Almost bowling the Poms out twice on a wicket that they couldn't take more than 6 wickets on suggests the bowling isn't that bad. Sure there are players who aren't playing at their best but we have still dominated one of the tests. The Poms are relying on a bloke who needs more drugs than killed River Phoenix to get through a game.

The batsmen don't need the practice obviously ... ;)

Backs up the discussion here about where the problems are.

Good to see Manou get the tour game, hopefully he becomes a better player for SA because of it and it may help his captaincy.

Tidy Manou and runs. I think the aussies could play him and have haddin just play as a batsman. Than Hussey or North could make way. As it could save 50 runs a test match on haddins last match figures as a keeper.

Where did the other 19 come from.? Manou is no chance of playing in the 3rd test.

i didnt watch every ball, but sometimes bad bowling doesnt do a keeper any justice..

2/64 and to be honest, I'm surprised it's taken so long for rain to intervene as it has now!

Hussey safe for next test, now doe's Hughes step aside for Watson, I hope not.
I think Hauritz will miss out especially If the wicket stays green and Watson, McDonald or Clark will come in, maybe a bowl off in remainder of this game.

27 is still an unacceptable number of byes isn't it? I still believe the best keeper should get the keeping job, but Gilly spoiled that for a long time to come I think.

Graham Manou got a first baller in his first match for Australia

after being 3/231 overnight they have collapsed to 8/299. but Hussey retired to give the other batsman a chance.

Mitchell Johnson has to be in some trouble here... How many tests did Dizzy get when out of form in 2005?? Fair to say he had a bit better record than Johnson has aswell!
