Geez it's not a good sign when Tasmania is beating you to get players.

Come on Redbacks sign someone exciting.

Why anti-Tasmania (they've got more test players than us :( )

You know what would be exciting? If they used the money to sign someone good to play for SA in first class cricket and just sent some dirty sloggers to play in January.

Is the $50k simply for use in the Big Bash, or can it be used for any player signing during the season?

Ajantha Mendis from Sri Lanka is supposedly who we've signed for the Big Bash according to a guy tonight on Thursday Night Live on One HD. He said his brother or someone will be coming out with him too to help him because he can't speak English.

Lasith Malinga has agreed in principle to join Tasmania and Sri Lanka's frontline spinners, Muttiah Muralitharan and Ajantha Mendis, are close to signing with Victoria and South Australia respectively for next season's Twenty20 Big Bash competition. The news comes amid rumours that Queensland are contemplating a scenario in which Andrew Flintoff - whom they almost signed last season - would play the latter stages of the tournament at the conclusion of England's tour of South Africa.

should be really good viewing in the t20 this year. the interesting signing is dwayne bravo for victoria - he has signed a full contract for victoria (as opposed to all the other players who have signed short term deals) so i wonder if victoria will play him during the regular season (they have said they wont but why sign him to a full contract)

has been signed on a full contract as the window for contract list had to close by whatever date it was, its actually pretty clever as they have signed him as an overseas player very much like flower and kahn in the past for sa, and they can still sign someone for the twenty20 with the extra cricket australia cash before midnight xmas eve. south australia has also done this with mendis. quite clever as if they go through to the champions league they can have both represent or also covering bases if the chosen players have to play for their ipl side or provincal side ala brendan mccullum who can represent otago (his nz state side) or nsw at coming champions league

From reading on here looks like NSW wont be short on keepers with Haddin, Smith who can hit a ball, apparantly trying to get Sangakarra for big bash and with Crossthwaite trying to get a game there.

one would think after the WI tour here they go home before returning for a ODI series. WI must have no international cricket between the two tours and Bravo will stay on in Australia and presumably others will stay for a stint in club cricket around the country.

Its not just the Aussie sides signing big marquee players for Twenty20 tournaments

Sri Lankan batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan has been signed by New Zealand's Northern Districts for the domestic Twenty20 competition for the 2009-10 season. This will be a big boost for the domestic team that failed to a win a single game in the State Twenty20 last year

There is a draft copy out but should be signed off by CA in next week or so.

I have a list of the games played in Tassie and SA are down her for sheild and franger game from 25 Nov

Think the hold up was prob the Foxtel deal that was done a few weeks ago

where are the redbacks 2nd XI going to play home games? on the main Adelaide Oval as the no.2 ground has a mound of dirt the size of the hill behind it. Or will they give it to a Grade Oval for example Woodville (hope not outfield is shite), Henley or Salisbury?

Fairly certain one of the ovals at Park 25 has been taken off the schedule for Grade cricket and allocated to high performance cricket for this season.
