New Zealand vs India

The Test Series Starts today with India looking to win their first test in NZ since 1976, it has been four decades since they have had success in New Zealand at Test Level and last time they came here in 2002 they left with their heads between their legs losing 2-0. If they can not win this series then they may be waiting another four decades.

It is currently first session on the first morning.

Franklin back in the NZ side and will bat six and Martin Guptill is making his test debut, I would have thought he bat in the middle order but seems he has opened.

India won the toss and have elected to field and currently have NZ 6/61

Ryder who is probably the in form Kiwi batsmen not out on 13* and his skipper yet to score.

Khan 2 for 21 from 8 and Sharma 3 for 27 from 10.

Franklin was unlucky to be given out and for anyone is interested this is NZ 15th opening pair since Mark Richardson retired, makes you realise how good we really have it in Australia. No referrals in this series either.

Pretty intriguing first mornings cricket in NZ

Kiwis have dug themselves out of a bit of trouble and are now 6/162 with Vettori 64* and Ryder 50* at Tea.

These 2 need to push on a bit further as have no more batting below.

Franklin batted at 7, and the decision was carp. There is no point having one series going on with no referrals and another with them. I know they were only trialling them for 4 series but surely they could have done it with series happening at the same time.
Cant here the Indians complain about the umpires now once they get it going for em? maybe NZ should refuse to play any more in the series unless the umpire gets fired... ;) just tongue in cheek.
Vettori and Ryder putting a real good partnership together, currently 6/175 and both batters look extremely comfortable

Yes he batted at 6.

He is viewed as an all rounder in NZ and has actually improved his batting out of sight. The way McCullum dismissed was unbelievably poor batting.

Great Knock by Vettori and Ryder (Who just brought up his century then was dismissed next ball)

NZ all out for 279 after they 6/60 is a pretty good effort.

Ishant Sharma bowled well with figures of 4/73

Lunch on day 2 and India cruising at 1/108

Gambhir 58*
Dravid 23*

And the only wicket to fall was a careless run out.

I know I have also stated the same on this forum numerous times rod. He is a superstar. If only he was Australian :((

I bet NZ Cricket administrators would shudder to think what the state of cricket would be in NZ if he was not around - he really does carry his side.

I agree 100%.

In my eyes he is the best spinner in world cricket at the moment and that includes Murali and co. His ability to keep the runs down against terrific opposition is incredible and the way he varies his pace and flight is really a pleasure to watch. It is a shame he could not turn the ball a fraction more because he would have been an incredible bowler. His improvement in his batting is amazing as well and a credit to his work rate. To turn himself from a tail ender to a genuine number 7 or 8 really is a terrific effort.

He would also have a much better record if he had bowlers at the other end who were half decent as well. He had Shane Bond for a very limited time but nothing else really in his whole career. Imagine if he had a McGrath at the other end creating pressure.

India cruising along this morning at 5/326 around 50 in front on first innings.

The Little Master has just brought up his 42 test century with a brilliant hundred, some of the shots he has played this morning really are a pleasure to watch. Can he make it to 50 test hundreds?

Dhoni 4*
Sachin 100*
