For my 5c worth. Who gives a flying ****. So what he was in a bar. So what a pi55ed bloke was annoying the **** out of him. So what if he told the pi55ed bloke to **** off and leave him alone. But at the moment you'd think he'd be keeping his head down and avoiding public bars like the plague, especially ones with a reputation for trouble as 'interceptor' pointed out.

Exactly right. It annoys me that high profile sporting people who have been in the media for all the wrong reasons don't seem to understand the media are out there just waiting for them to slip up again.

Some even would resort to tactics of setting up the incident to give them something to write about. They're not interested in Symonds, just the story.

It's time sporting people learned this lesson, and Symonds would be better served staying out of public places, especially bars, for the time being.

It's all very well saying they should be allowed to have a drink in a bar like the average bloke. However, the average bloke hasn't just had a press conference telling the world of his problems with alcohol.

Well then, the player needs to accept the consequences of his actions.

There are plenty of things we should be able to do ..... we should be able to leave our houses and cars unlocked, young girls should be able to walk the streets in perfect safety .... but we can't always do what we want. That's life.

Unfortunately, the media have a lot of power, and we've given it to them by reading their squalid tabloids. There's no good sporting icons complaining about the media because a lot of their fame is due to media coverage in the first place.

Im not bagging the bloke or anything but i have heard alot of stories about Andrew Symonds and his lack of tactness towards fans/autograph hunters and the general public.

Example being my wife was then working at Subway hindley st during last years Adelaide test match, all the players eat there during their stay, being my favourite player the misses while serving him asked if he could sign an autograph for me, to reply of "your a sandwich artist, just do you your job and make my sandwich hey." IMHO if he didn't want to sign an autograph probably could of been a bit politer.

That was just one example i could quote a few other things he has said in the last couple of years to people i know including my 6-y-o brother, mate who is a security guard at a local venue, and a friend who got the chance to be a net bowler during the Adelaide test.

On a brighter side though my misses scored two five day passes to the test match from Shane Warne during the last Ashes series, after he came into her work and got his autograph. He asked if her and me were going, she told him how we just missed out on tickets and he said thats to bad, bad luck.

An hour and half later he walked back into subway and asked for my wife and gave her the two five day passes to the members and told her to make sure her husband (me) has a brilliant time.
