Well I think there will always be this type of animosity between the two teams. In fact you could say its almost good for the game that something like this is happening. I mean come on at the least the news is saying something different as to "Aussies win again"
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

Compare this to Darren Lehmann when he got suspended. He copped it on the chin, and moved on. Not only that, he apologised straight after he said it too.

big difference between the 2 incidents

lehamnns was said in the public arena and was clearly heard by various people and lehamann also refereed to the sri lankans as black c***** a more serious taunt i would have thought- lahmann was also suspended for 4 one day matches which is a significantly smaller penalty

the only reason anygone knows there may or may not have been anything said with harbhajan is because the australians brought it to everyones attention and any dialouge between the 2 players was also in response to the 2 players having a go at each other so there was some verbal provocation as opposed to lehmann just being upset at being dismissed.

on the issue of staying or going i think the indians need to stay and play the tour out but maybe the whole sequence of events over the past 5 days will get the icc doing something productive to the game as a whole like having technology more involved and clearing out of the dead wood umpires

The Lehmann incident wouldn't have even got to the stage of him up against the panel had a journalist posted an article about it on cricinfo. The Referee (Clive Lloyd) and the Sri Lankans were happy to leave it as it was because of his immediate apology and remorse. But that is another story, Lehmann was deeply sorry and he moved on. That's what Harbhajan needs to do. Even if it was just dialouge between the players, it would have been fair enough if he apologised, and then got on with it from there. Instead we have this. I do however think it should have been 2 Tests maximum, even 1 Test would have been enough.

To all those trying to defend the Indians and their "take their ball and go home board", remember these blokes have form:

Any one remember the Mike Dennis affair from 2001-02 when the match referess had the temerity to suspend Sachin Tendulkar for Ball tampering and Shewag, Singh (the same bloke in trouble this test) Das and Dasgupta for excessive appealing (intimidating the umpires by running at them when appealing).

They refused to play the final test at Centurion if Dennis was the match referee, the ICC refused to remove him, the Seth Efricans fell in step with the Indians and removed Dennis, the ICC refused to replace him still so teh game went ahead without a amtch referee and hence lost test status...

As I said these blokes take whinging and petulance to a whole new level...

http://content-aus.cricinfo.com/ci/content/story/108163.html

One wonders what the chairman of the ICC's Cricket Committtee (Sunil Gavasker) has to say about all this...

With respect tot eh game neither side covered themselves in glory as a result of several incidents in teh game. it overshadowed a great test match with high class batting (Symonds and Tendulkar (esp Sashin)), great pace bowling lee and Clarke and sensational spinners (Kumble and Singh)

It is a pity one side has decided to spit the dummy instead of taking the decisions like men..

your all missing the bright side to this. now we can call the Indians monkeys because the monkey is a revered and god-like creature in their religion( I always thought it was the humble cow!, but there you go!). Still, it is handy having a religion with a multitude of gods to choose from, they provide a defence for any occasion!

I see that and throw in Shewag, and Singh, with tendulkar tampering a ball for good measure...

Hey as I said in my original post post sides can hang their heads in shame for some of teh behaviour shown over the past five days....both teams....

for one to pick up their bat and threaten to go home....thats what I find most cringe-worthy

Yes after having the ant-Australian crap shoved down their throats by Roebuck, I'm not surprised at that poll on abc.net.au

I can handle him criticisng Australia for standing at the wicket, excesive appealing and claiming catches. What I can't handle is him refusing to write about the Indians standing their grounds, time wasting and excessive appealing.

This is a disgraceful performance from India. Why can't they accept the punishment and move on.

IMO, if they go home, the last two tests should be classed as forfeits (and we replace the record, though not in the best circs), they should not only cop their $2million fine but they should either be suspended from international cricket for 12 months for bringing the game into disrepute and/or possibly be stripped of the World Cup.

If the Indians want to behave like animals, they should be treated like animals.

I hope Proctor and the ICC stands up to the Indians and Singh's suspension stands. IMO the 3 test ban was appropriate, especially given the fact he not only pleaded not-guilty, but still denys he made the comments.

IMO, the Indian's current temper-tantrum makes Adelaide United's tantrums after last's years A-League GF look slick and professional.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Spelly , I am not sure if he got the chance to do it.Ponting went to the umpires who had no choice but to then put the report process in motion.Maybe its too synical but the circumstances of the Ponting/Singh pre match talk and then the dismissal in the first innings of Ponting by Singh so easily may have created a smouldering cinder here.
